Wright heard Schmeichel call him the 'n' word,Is Wright a liar????? If not why did'nt your goalie get banned for racism?
The Changing Face of Football: Racism, identity and multiculture in the English game Here is some reading to remind everyone of the background we come from... Schmeichel vs Wright, Collymore vs Harkness, Viera vs Ruddock, Woodgate and Bowyer vs Asian Student, Viera vs Mihajlovic ... and how much we've really moved on... If Evra gets booed on Saturday, it'll be for being a twat!
I have been practicing my booing since the draw was made...gonna take great pleasure in giving him loads... grass
Again despite the involvement of the police and FA no evidence was produced and Wright declined to proceed with a complaint. But if evidence ever was produced then big Peter deserved to be banned. However read again, no evidence unlike the Suarez incident was ever produced.
No there wasn't. Suarez admitted to calling Evra a "negro", but whether there was any racial intent we will never know. If this case was in a proper court of law then Suarez would've been found not guilty, because there was no actual concrete evidence that Suarez was racially abusive at any point toward Evra.
So I suppose the captain of one of the old Uruguyan world cup winning sides who's nickname is "El Negro Jefe" (The Black boss) is being racially abused by Uruguayans
No idea. But why cannot you accept that the evidence provided by Suarez i.e. him admitting he said "negro" was deemed by the FA as being racist? I actually was surprised at the lenght of the ban but the fact remains there was evidence. There was no evidence ever produced against Peter since Wright never went formal with the complaint and it is said both the police and FA produced no evidence. In that light maybe Wright made up the accusation. I don't know but if Peter had said something racist, then I would have agreed with a ban.
If you look at the things he's actually been charged for its using abusive words towards Evra and also including a reference to Evra's skin colour. Nothing about making a racist remark mate. And I know it wasn't you that brought the Ian Wright thing, but I really don't care what happened between Wright and Schmeichel.
Oh dear god, not this one again. Rudolf was let off precisely because Wrighty stated that he "...wasn't in the habit of getting my fellow professionals into trouble." The complaint was made by one Junior Lawrence, a fan attending the game in November 1996. It was investigated by the CPS, but Wright's non-co-operation rendered the investigation null. Review of the book "The Changing Face of Football: Racism, identity and multiculture in the English game"
This was Ferguson's response before the police had looked into the matter and before the FA gave their response. Ian Wright's claims that he was racially insulted by Peter Schmeichel were angrily denied by a furious Alex Ferguson last night. The Manchester United boss smashed reports that his Danish goalkeeper had hurled a racist taunt at Arsenal firebrand Wright in Wednesday night's Highbury hate game. Fergie went on TV to say: "We can categorically deny that there were any racist remarks from Peter Schmeichel. "We can assure you of that - no question about it - so it's very, very disappointing to read that stuff. It's a wild card. "Peter is very, very upset. People should remember he's got a family to think about back home in Denmark reading about all this. "Manchester United is a worldwide institution - we've got supporters club branches in every corner of the planet and we set great store in our reputation. And Kenny, our players and the club got pilloried for doing the same thing over the Suarez accusation,The Dane only got away with it because Wright decided not to persue the case.
The language used in that report - Wright labelled a 'Firebrand' - not very sympathetic, is it? not to mention the inaccurate bit about Wright making the claim...
In actual fact while Wright declined to make an official complaint, he did in February 1997 accuse Schmeichel of making racist remarks at him. After that 1997 match it emerged that an investigation going back to November 1996 had been attempting to find evidence that Schmeichel had called Wright a "black bastard". However the FA was unable to find any evidence against Schmeichel and he was never found guilty. Ironically Wright himself has been accused of racism, for it is alleged he called an African traffic warden a "monkey". He is also alleged to have told the man to "**** off back to his own country" in a dispute over a parking ticket. However Wright denied all the claims. Footage included. Shows the warden struggling with Wright's mate. I presume the warden was trying to stop his mate from leaving over a claim he had been assaulted and was waiting for the police. Wright stands back and laughs once or twice.
