This is probably the best post I've read on here for years ... Ristac has clearly thought through this very carefully, this isn't a knee jerk reaction but rather a composed, researched post ... too many people see 22 players running around, some making errors and take things at face value ... players are easy targets Ristac gives some insight here that highlights why we all need to be very concerned right now, an 2 wins in 17 really isn't acceptable at ANY club The fact that Marsch is eleven months into his project, having had a free hit in second half of last season to assess the squad and the league is massive ... four months of Prem football, a full pre-season, a burst of games and then close on two months off for the WC and still his tactics don't work ... Ristac is spot on on on Then there's Leipzig ... remember this, Marsch came through the Red Bull organisation, he wasn't a random appointment ... he started at NYRB then got promoted to Salzburg ... he was coming through their system and had been earmarked as a future manager fo their flagship club, Leipzig ... after his success in Austria where he had a certain Viking up front, Red Bull felt he was ready for the Bundesliga Leipzig didn't take long to dump him, and the fact he resigned before being pushed means little ... Marsch simply couldn't cope with the higher level of opponent in Germany, and his narrow system got battered ... for Red Bull to get rid of a coach that had come up through their system and who was hand picked for Leipzig, well that takes a lot to do Leeds are in big trouble, Marsch Ball is never going to work in the Prem, and either Marsch starts playing with wingers or he goes ... the concern is it may be too late by the time he goes if he doesn't change
Leipzig was a different scenario. They didn’t play RB football under Nagelsmann. They had players geared to a different style. They brought marsch in to reverse that trend. So he didn’t really have the playing staff or buy in from them. Wrong fit fit the job… something I think the Leipzig president acknowledged. To be fair to his successor, he was more flexible in his approach, and did really well. Most noteably sorting the defence out. So Marsch arguably too stubborn with the players he had… but he was also following a brief. Last year was a salvage operation. Stevie wonder could see we needed a major squad overhaul and it takes time for new teams to bed in. You can’t do it all in one window unless you’re forest and have no players. But this is his second window and we’re clearly willing to spend, so we need to see improvement and quickly. I think there’s promise in the performances… we were much the better side on Friday.. but we need to shin a few in while our opponents miss a few sitters… and change our losing habit To a winning one sharpish.
… or maybe just a case of Billy waxing lyrical about the thoughtfulness and intelligence of anyone who agrees with him
it is the formation and tactics that baffle me.so many games could have been tighter and more points accrued but the yank plank just cannot see where he is going wrong.he looks to me like a man on the verge of a heart attack or breakdown.why does he leave us so open when our centre backs are so slow.surely you play to the strength of your team and not the tactics in your head.last coach we had did that and nothing has changed at the back .why are we so exposed in the middle anyone can see Aaronson is not a central mid and he is killikng him.i would rather play harrison at 10 than any of the younger players.
