this line of thought is one I never sign up to! I have some very staunch Labourite friends WHO COCK A HOOP over the GE result a result they are slowly coming around to thinking it was not a victory but merely a default. Slowly they are [ not all 5 of them just 3 ] conceeding that the 14 years was not of Tory making, BUT AGREE that the situation has 4 strings to the Bow! Basically string 1 ........... from 2010 to 2019.. clearing up the mess left by a real blackhole. Not a piddly little £22bn [ of which the consensus of 4 of the 5 agree was exasperated by the 2 PAYMENTS to Doctors and Train Drivers so maybe £15bn ! ] String 2 2020 to 2023. .............. a disasterous dent in all the "good work" that had brought the UK back into the black and the announcing of the police/hospitals/other major projects. It also caused in this period a world wide inflationary rate of anything from 8 - 15% ...... String 3 .. the incomplete making good ..... inflation down, police numbers well up, more doctors, more hospitals and modernising some with add ons, interest rates falling on a very stable growing economy and ALL fiscal bodies having high regard for the future with BOE stating interest rates likely to be down to 4- 4.25 by end of 2024. String 4 .. the hardest bit of the "equation" is accepting that the turnout for the GE WAS lowest for ages/decades .. and labour votes were lower than for CORBYN!!! .. but feel "being gifted the power" is not right... if the tory voters [ some 6m who didnt give a damn to vote ] didnt want the labour to win they should have voted. One comment was " had the 6m tories who didnt vote had voted for anyone of the other parties instead of not voting, Labour would likely not had more than 370 seats, voted for mainly Reform then maybe just 360 seats" As of last week, our comments [ above ] was encompassed also by their take on the present .gov would you vote labaour next time = 4/5 yes! 1 no Reform! are they happy with present .GOV... jury is out, as the lies/hypocrisy issues / wrong people in cabinet / etc ALL NEED TO BE GIVEN TIME [ up to a year!!!] .... 3 are pensioners and 2 will join the ranks in 2 & 3 years time. 2 who have lost the £300 say they only get £200 as on pension scheme other says £300 is a loss as has £300 less in his budget!
Labour and Starmer are already about as unpopular as any party has ever been after just 5 months (of chaos) in charge. Inflation is up, illegal immigration is up, food inflation is getting even worse, the economy and growth are down so a recession looks very possible, firms are letting people go and/or not hiring because of the NI rise. And that's without the WASPI, OAP fuel allowance, snd farmers rows. The Tories got the bloody nose they deserved at the last election for not being conservative, but I don't think anyone saw this utter sh*t show coming, at least not to this degree. I voted for Reform at the last election and will continue to do so all the way from now on. At least I agree with their principles, but they and the Conservatives can't co-exist in case it gives these current clowns another 5 years. Something has to give.
It is hypocritical they backed them whilst in opposition then changed spots now they’re in government, That said I’ve no idea where they’re supposed to get the money from, another case of having to try to pick up the mess they were left. But I agree hypocritical.
They all do it. Labour campaigned against the introduction of Uni fees back in the Thatcher days - but kept them when they got into power. The Tories moaned about the increase in VAT to 17.5% in 2010, they raised it to 20% themselves in 2011, blaming Labour (of course). Labour (in opposition) moaned, but have they cut it now they’re in power? Of course not. The WASPI thing I mentioned earlier ….. the list goes on. They are ALL a bunch of hypocrites - all of them - promising whatever will get them into power, then blaming their failure to honour their promises on the previous government. It’s how the UK political cycle works I’m afraid - and in the meantime we have to work a little bit harder for a little bit less every year - and the country slips little by little in world status every year too. This ship is sinking. Hats off to you Ashton believing in Labour - and also to Wiz, JGF, Angelic, RP etc for believing in the other lot. Me? I’m a non-believer. I hate them all. I only vote at all because I believe that ones vote is a very precious privilege which people have died for over the centuries - and a vote for a party I hate is better than not voting imho.
wow! what is ..."THE BIGGEST HYPOCRITICAL and I mean B I G G E S T HYPOCRITICAL... is when ANYONE denies the "so called mess," a factor fiscally and and by statistically" poo poooo'd by experts in their reflective fields has never happened before! WHAT HAPPENED IN 2010 ? Well a massive blackhole and debt was left by the previous Labour government.. and bear in mind the years that reign went back had a new income from oil and gas that peaked in early part 2000's ... sums of money never seen before!! ... BUT ALAS ,,, they still managed to leave a debt and Blackhole unprecedented, that meant to make it look less of a disaster sold ALL our gold reserves! building up quite a title is Sir 2 TIER KEIR "AKA liar flipperflopper hypocrite vindictive " STARMER..... the self sytled HARMER

Tractor tax please log in to view this image Keir Starmer has faced fury from farmers over his so-called tractor tax (Stefan Rousseau/PA Wire) REMINDS ME OF an annoyed race horse owner who was reprimanded and prohibited from doing something by the horse racing "bosses" He named his horse Fuzzy Duck, it slipped through their vetting of names [ swear words/ to long / etc ]!!!! . it did actually win a race ..or 2 ...or ... 10 pledges Sir Keir’s bid to become leader of the Labour Party was based on 10 pledges, now infamous for having almost all been summarily dumped since. They included promises to increase income tax for top earners, abolish tuition fees, support public ownership of energy and water firms, give voting rights to EU nationals and defend freedom of movement. He has said a tougher economic backdrop means the promises are now no longer deliverable. But many Labour members who backed Sir Keir’s leadership bid feel betrayed, arguing that he posed as a left-winger to win over Corbynistas before pivoting sharply to the right.
It is the ultimate festive accolade that musicians vie for every year. And today, [ FRIDAY 20TH DECEMBER 2024 ] a parody song mocking Sir Keir Starmer is in with a chance of taking the coveted title of Christmas number one. The BBC has been criticised for failing to play the song – which has already topped the Official Singles Downloads Charts. Freezing This Christmas, by Sir Starmer and the Granny Harmers, slams the Prime Minister for Labour’s decision to cut winter fuel payments for pensioners to the tune of Mud’s 1974 track Lonely This Christmas. The official Top 40 Christmas Number One will be announced today, with Wham!’s Last Christmas the favourite to take top spot on its 40th anniversary. But even if the satirical song does not hit the top, it could appear on BBC Radio One’s weekly countdown of the Top 40 – which is played every Friday.
R&W, I voted Reform last and next time. Fyi , voted red until the Blair 'experience' finished me with them. The media like to knock Farage and co but, like Angelic, a lot of their 'stuff' resonates with me. The idea we need more houses does my head in..........if we hadn't let in the millions since Blair opened the door on free movement and the the Tories allowing 900k in 'legally' just last year we wouldn't need these bloody houses. Seems simple logic to me but no doubt someone will tell me different.
I get the point around number of immigrants, but we don’t have enough working age people, and our birth rate isn’t high enough. Without immigration we’d be stuffed. But I agree it needs to be targeted correctly.
Ashton We have 9.25million of working age are not economically active and not actively looking for work. Now tell me we need more immigrants of working age.
We’ve got the worlds biggest welfare state Stop these con artists benefits and they’ll soon be working and paying their taxes as they should be doing
