This IS a shocking statistic ! A shot on our goal has got a 75% chance of being scored !!

Yeah but you need to get a shot off in the first place. Man Utd needed a lucky rebound off the bar to get theirs and one of Norwich's was a penalty.

You are looking at what happened before the shot was made on the goal. But when the shot is made and on target, 75% of them are scored and 25% are saved. That is only 1 in 4 of every shot on target is saved. Simply not good enough.

On the face of it- but it's a very small sample, and events often come in clusters. You could probably find an 8 shot period where all were saved but that wouldn't mean we are impregnable.
We need a much bigger statistical sample set for that percentage to be meaningful.
I'm not defending our defending, which is indefensible, just pointing out that it's a mistake to read too much into cherry-picked statistics.

Get a grip, lads. Of our last 7 shots on target, 5 were goals. By your logic we should be runaway top scorers in the league.
Calm down and put things into a rational perspective.
    We're ****, but not quite that ****.

The defending in the PL as whole is ****e compared to when PL clubs were starting to dominate the CL a decade ago.

As for pool this season, it's on course for 52/53 goals conceded after 50 in 2013/14 and 48 last season so its not far off par!

It's worse. I would sell any of our CB's in a blink of an eye, a bring 4 new if it was possible.
Not to mention our right and left becks. We are hoping that Flanno will be able to improve us after such a long injury, and that pretty much says it all.

since sahko came back from injury he's been **** to be frank.... just the way it is.

Everyone has been in and out but its not just CBs. we are allowing the ball in too much... when we do clear a first ball (and corners and frees are that) we are seeing chaos not organisation.

Klopp says they have been taught but have not shown application.

I would say they are better than others.
Speaking of Sakho, i do think he's our best center back, but he's trying a lot of unnecessary forward and diagonal forward passes which lands on oppositions feet. Sometimes he has to be calmer in those situations and try not to rush it when he wins the ball.

Clyne can do better, and he's better player than he shows right now. But i could say it's not that much of his fault. When whole defense is not playing that well, you can not expect that right back will tight things up. :)

    And thanks dude. :)

  18. I don't think many are going to be looking top class in our current setup. An attacker can be in a **** team and still look great but defending is a team effort, rarely does a defender stand out in a poor team.

Sakho is great imo. He has his faults but surrounded by better player I think he'll be even better. Same for Clyne.

Atm Sakho is being used as a ball playing CB, I think that's why he's playing the forward passes. Tbf to him, his forward pass success rate is pretty good too (I don't know the actual figures, I only use my eyes).

We could improve the RCB and LB positions but I think our defense will massively improve once we have a decent keeper and a quality DM.

Sakho reminds me of Joey Yobo. A solid defender who can't really play and has a ten bob head when in the opposition penalty area.
