Property mate Buy 4 houses at 250k a piece, rent them out for 1000 a month each, thats £4000 a month income Wait 10 years, their value would have likely gone up by at least 50%, you could then decide whether to keep renting them at whatever the going rate is by then (likely ridiculously high, the rate its going), or sell up and you could probably live off the interest of £1.5 million in a 4.5% high interest account. That would bring in around 70k a year in interest alone, and thats if you DONT wanna do any work. If you cant live on 70k a year there is something wrong with ya And thats the relatively risk free option. If you were more of a risk taker there are crypto currencies, or the stock market.....lots of ways.
Imagine having £1m and spending the entire amount on rental property. I couldn't think of anything more depressing.
Difficult to do that with rental property. There’s usually a paper trail that starts with stamp duty and the land registry...unless you’re going to find 4 tenants to pay you £12k a year cash and have a solid plan to convince the tax man that you’re letting them live there gratis. Then you’ll probably go under investigation for being a pimp and end up sharing a cell with a 6 foot 4 Hell’s Angel who calls you Beryl.
