I dont care mate. Two defeats so far this season is pretty good so far. Move on to the next game. Completely different situation for your lot though. 50/50 on whether Zola stays or not.
After match press comments from GFZ. When Zola was asked if his own position was “absolutely secure”, he replied: “This is a question you shouldn’t ask me. I can tell you I work with total honesty and of course this is a club that is ambitious but don’t ask me things that unfortunately I can’t answer."
I wouldn't be at all surprised if we didn't get at least 4 points from the next 2 away games. We do seem to play better away from Vicarage Road, although that is not saying much at the moment.
I woke up this morning wondering if GZ still had a job, but found that UB40s had been given away at Barnsley and Sheffield Wed. This is not to say I want GZ sacked, because I can't imagine who could work in the system that the Pozzos have created, but I am coming to expect it.
When sky said there was breaking news I thought it might be GFZ instead of Jol. Be careful what you wish for...
I think Meulensteen has been given it permanently but might have misheard on Sky. What sort of manager would you want, hypothetically? Given the squad you have, one would think an Italian or at least a manager who has a lot of experience with foreign players and this league, which doesn't leave loads of options. In the days of our changing manager with the wind, we had a guy called Luigi De Canio who I liked a lot and was generally popular. Looks like he's at Catania now... For what it's worth (not much) http://m.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/watford/next-permanent-manager
Looking at that list Watford R, there are few if any options that we would want. I doubt that if there were a new manager we would have heard of him. Like many of the players he would be on trial to see if he could make a fist of it. Just a thought, Nani, Duxberry and Zola came as a package. I am not sure what Nani is doing, but Duxberry seems to be making a good job of things with the finances and ground improvements. I think that the whole set up relies on each part being successful. Maybe Nani will be able to point out to the owners that not every player is fitting in.
Zola is the man to take us forward , fickle fans gotta love them ! Couple of wins and the same fans will be all over the play offs , the threads on this site will be less and less , but of course Zola doesn't have a clue it's all his fault our football is crap the new fans have every right to moan blah blah blah , let's bring in Ray Lewington and Glenn roader , great thread this ,
Not forgetting Colin Lee, Steve Perryman, "Harry" Bassett and, of course, if he were still alive, Mike Keen. The football under these managers was far better than the dross we are playing under Zola............
Rather sad to see Ray Lewington on this list seeing as he got us to 2 cup semis in 3 years and guided us over one of the most difficult financial periods of our history !
They're probably the same bunch who were calling for Dyche's head at the same stage of 'his' season - then saw fit to vent their spleen when GFZ replaced him. By the way, there's a rumour on Facebook that part of the problem was a dressing room bust-up that has caused disharmony - said bust-up instigated by our Number 1 keeper, who has been unhappy for a while. Only a rumour, but disturbing nevertheless.
In no way would I include Ray Lewington amongst the worst managers we have had. In fact, given the resources he had at his disposal, I would say he ranks distinctly above average and was unlucky to be sacked when he was - as a panic measure it has to be said. If it were not for his first full season when he was fortunate to have King & Young, Aidy would have gone down as below par - and his football in the last 12 months of his reign as the worst for many a long year. Sad to think what changed expectations do for many fans...........
In regards to players not getting on , there is nothing new there but ,when the result of in house aggro is the team going backwards then the bad eggs must be removed , now if that's Troy , Fes or the keeper it doesn't matter , get rid ASAP
It does seem strange after they appeared to all get on so well last year, so what has changed? New players or inflated egos? This is where being a nice guy may cost GZ... hopefully he can make the tough decisions if there really is a split in the dressing room. As for the intitial question - I cannot think of anyone to replace him, and I hope we don't need to.
Nani is Director of Football, whatever that means, so what has happened to the Football? At the very least I would expecting him to help Zola in everyway which being professionals they will be trying their best.
