    Struggling here.

Is there a better ex player still playing for every position?

    Mannone... Mig, Gordon, Pants?
    Yedin.... Bardo
    PVA..Rose
    O Shea...Evans?

    Any more?

I'm not sure if I'd rather have Rose over PVA in our side. Rose is a more complete player as it stands but PVA has bags of talent and I could see him surpassing Rose if he carries on improving in the same way that he has under Sam.

    Really?

Suprised at this. The gulf in class between them is immense imo.

Well Rose is the better player currently, I just think PVA is a real rough diamond. The difference between his performances at the start of the season and now is huge and if Sam can continue to bring him on I think he could be quality for us.

Time will tell. I see him as an accident waiting to happen. But hopefully you are correct.

Agreed, so ironic that Van Aanholt's intials are PVA as he never sticks to his defensive position. Could be a brilliant left winger for a top side as he is unreal going forward but he leaves gaps in the back 4 as wide as Mike Ashley's trousers.

Fletcher and Henderson, Fletcher would have put that one away we missed in the second half, bad idea Sam letting him go out on loan. And PVA should have been on the left wing months ago but Sam knows otherwise, do teams have wingers nowadays ?. I was saying to my brother coming back from the Arsenal game Kevin kilbane was not a world beater but his cross ratio was brilliant each match, Nicky summerbee, Julio, Leighton james why do most teams not play wingers you have a better chance of getting a shot on goal with crosses than playing the ball around the penalty area.

He likes to come inside more than Rose who likes to hug the line more. He probably scores more than Rose.

Fletcher is the epitome of everything that has been bad at SAFC over the last few years- arrogant, useless, lazy, and overrated (by our fans). Glad to see the back of him. It just shows you how far Marseille have fallen. People complain about Congerton's signings but under previous regimes things were much worse.

Congerton worked some absolute wonders with some of his dealings. Straight swap Defoe for Altidore and getting £9m for Whickham were absolute master-strokes.

Amen to that! I don't understand why people say that the Director of Football system is the cause of all of our problems. Congerton was doing a great job. And people easily forget that Allardyce has a 'director of recruitment' (one Martyn Glover, I believe) who essentially does the same job anyway.

There are not many players still playing who I could see fitting into the current system/line up tbh. Maybe Cess and Henderson but I am not too sure about either for different reasons. It goes to show how few players of genuine class we have had recently despite the money spent.

No one else stands out, Wikes is the business, just shame he could not keep up to the standard he set against us, at the toon fortress yesterday, maybe his mind was elsewhere.
