Excellent news, although it'll have to wait as I've just been told by my wife that I'm going out to Clonakilty (and possibly Cork) for the day. Hate when she does this. I need to man up. Yeah. I totally will. (Later.)
For my sins I went to see Clockwork Orange when I was a mere 14 or 15, my local cinema allowed me entry on the basis that I was dressed in overalls and work boots, that was my cunning plan you see, dress like a workie and they would assume i'd left school at least. Knowing that i'd fooled them once I decided to try again the next night and was again allowed to buy a ticket. Naturally I went every night that week such was my passion for what I had witnessed. It may be a bit dated now but at the time I knew I was seeing a genius at work and Kubrick's work before and after confirmed that belief. Even a movie like Barry Lyndon - which was pretty badly received - is in my eyes a masterpiece, unfortunately Kubrick's swansong "eyes wide shut" was a bit of an abortion (even if Nicole Kidman does get her kit off a lot), no way to end a great career. Which takes us full circle back to the OP, does it have to be musicians we would like to see reanimated? Could I change my vote to Stanley Kubrick?
Gerry Rafferty. Talking about Stanley Kubrick films, I've seen them all (about 15, in total). Clockwork Orange is good but I much prefer The Shining and Paths of Glory. I'd recommend the three of these to anyone that hasn't seen them.
Hi Tina honey Aye, I saw you crushed Kilmarnock 6-0, nice one, did you know by the way the Huns are going bust? Have a drink on my team as well, amazingly we are turning into a half-decent, organised team. Howay the Toon
Not being a film buff, I wikipaedoed Kubrik ealier and was surprised by just how many great films he has made.
It's well worth viewing his ouevre and you've probably seen some of his work anyway. Some marvellous films and the odd dud, Kubrick is acknowleged as one of the greatest directors of his time. "Hereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee's Johhhhhnnnnnny....."
Elvis so he could make hundreds of more monotone songs, thousands more school girls drool, then everyone don's wigs and your in.... But none of his ****e movies though.
