I would just to piss them off heres the quranic view al nisa 4:16 And the two who commit it among you, dishonor them both. But if they repent and correct themselves, leave them alone. Indeed, Allah is ever Accepting of repentance and Merciful.
does the first part refer to creation compared to the big bang? As for your last point Id say I'm Agnostic so doesnt really refer to me but what I would say is beliefs are very subjective. Most people dont follow all rules by the book as it just wouldnt work in modern society. I never understand why it has seen justifiable in any way to kill or even hurt anyone who has slightly different beliefs, or slightly dont follow what they are told to follow!
Quick question why does a God need someone to worship him? Is that not a typical way a human would a imagine a god. An all being all knowing being who created everything surely wouldnt be egotistical and paranoid over something so very small of a human whos life is way less then a blink of the eye in terms of the eternity of the universe.
If you don't believe in god do you believe we are all just a big cosmic mistake? So would you call gays mutations? If procreation is all part of evolution? Murder rape etc....wrong...evil......but why? If its natural and part of evolution it can't be wrong or bad or evil....because evil doesn't exist....because we are all accidents anyway If we are nothing more than evolved apes, then why are there still apes? If we are nothing more than evolved apes then surely looking after our own is paramount and racism is natural....grey squirrels hate red squirrels... Do only smart mammals have morals?
yes i suppose it would but that wasnt the only thing in my mind, its about the angle of light etc etc too following the rules would work imo, and could be better if followed exactly by the book. issues around the correct book are another matter I would agree with your last point in the context of what gets debated in parliament etc, which most people follow and get puished if they dont and are caught from a religious perspective its not that simple. eg if life is a test and that is your belief then by abstaining or accepting the punishment on earth as prescribed would be better than the punishmnet after
2 things imo firstly the question 'would me/you not believing in god actually decrease his majesty?' no so the ego thing is irrelevant secondly (and i know it sounds pedantic) but worship and it connotations are the problem. one translation is so you 'know' god its like parents i suppose, you obey etc not out of fear, but out of love. its a form of worship but not worship, if you see what i mean
1) the only way the universe could be is the way it is now.. call it the butterfly affect, we are apart of the universe and therefore are the universe, the matter that is around today was around when the big bang happened. 2) Homosexuals are coming more relevant not out of mistake, the population is increasing way to high, its natures way of population control, if we all knew we were the last 100 humans we would all mate to increase the numbers again, we dont need to do that so much now. 3) There is fundamentally no such thing as right or wrong, however for society to work there must be ground rules, the only reason we are alive is because of these rules. Are you saying if you found out there was no god then you would just rape and murder people? Thats not how people work. 4)Because at some point a group of apes became isolated into a enviroment in which they weren't used to, this then starts survival of the fittest where the creature with the best genes for that enviroment survives and breeds leading to more and more with those genes.. However another group of apes would have stayed in the original normal habitat, they would be perfect for this habitat so wouldnt have evolved as they were already perfectly made for that enviroment, we now have 2 species. 5)Havent researched squirrels but not to sure thats fact? 6)Humans are creatures of reason therefore we have morals, however some species will have unwritten code of conducts. In short the universe is a connected and intrinsic system nothing happens by chance, but an entity never made it and isnt judging our every move, only humans judge, nothing else in the universe!
Thanks although I'm not religious, I dont judge anyone who is, everyone has their own belief's, its everyoness right to belief what they want to, otherwise we would have been born another way. You raise some good points and although I may disagree on some due to beliefs you seem to be well informed on the area's you do believe.
Christians nicked christmas off pagens. More recently the retail sector has nicked christmas off christians
Thank YOU (Mr.) Joker ( sincere )................and you will have noted my reply to Psychosomatic. You will probably have noted that I am on the ' believers ' side. I have also stated that I am happy for ALL to celebrate Christmas in their own way. I have said that I wouldn't wish to force religion on anyone - and agree that believing in God is no guarantee in any eternal reward / or vice versa. I originally posed the question to the athiest community - I was interested in their thoughts. I later clarified the query by stating that my curiosity was fuelled by the intensity of the anti God comments on GC. I have no real issue with anyone being an athiest ( or indeed any believer ) regarding their beliefs on ANY subject. There has been a number of replies to this thread, with which I don't agree ( due to MY beliefs ) - but where those contributors have remained courteous in their responses, I have respected their position - which is how it should be - on any subject - instead of quickly descending to ridicule.......sadly it does seem that the too many of the replies from the athiest contributors have been ridicule in one form or another - which only stirs more curiosity in me regarding the subject of hyprocisy.
The real hypocrites are those who don't believe in Cliff Richard but still celebrate Christmas time with mistletoe and wine.
Yep, I'm a total hypocrite then. Kids will get spoiled rotten, I'll get wasted on too many mince pies and cashew nuts, watch the same old re-runs on the TV and thoroughly enjoy myself. Great excuse for a good time but I will still be an atheist. I still eat Easter eggs and make pancakes on Shrove Tuesday but don't give a monkeys about any religious significance. I love Christmas, shame the religion bit gets in the way.
Thank you for your honesty. Your reply was going well - until the last sentence ! I don't mind if people are hypocrites - but as stated in one of my replies -be hypocritical in a respectful manner. Your last sentence was not necessary as it more than implies disrespect - that is really what I find offensive- and, after all, without some religious input there would be no Christmas.
