All this talk about who will likely be let go to make way for players coming in, but shouldn't we also be thinking about who might CHOOSE to leave if an "offer they can't refuse" comes along? I would say that Pilkington and Morison are likely bid candidates. Would either want to leave? Or any others?
Ever since hearing about the second bid other than Holt and seeing Morison looking so grumpy I can't help but wonder if the bid was for him and he's trying to force a move.... Yep, can see either leaving if a bid is very good. Would love to hold onto both though
i posted that about drury signing a pre-contract with posh but it was just a rumour from someone - nothing more than that so it may be untrue as i don't really know the source munky is right. many of the fringe players are big characters and nice guys too and although they are not playing regularly they still play a big part in training and its wrong to just dismiss them based on their lack of games. as stated elsewhere, unless we were somehow to qualify for europe i can't see the need for a massive 25-man squad where everyone gets a lot of playing time so i don't really understand the panic about the 25-man squad anyway good thread by the way!
Which we could have if we'd have tried to win against leicester <lightsbluetouchpaperandlegsitemoticon>
Hmmmmmmm. This is certainly a tough one and as we debate it, lambert himself has to actually decide on what to do! I for one am glad im not him for this reason, BUT it is his job to sort this out and he knows that more strengthening WILL need to be done in the summer if were to stay up! Not only though are we looking at the players who we think could be on there way ie drury, barnett, lappin, wilbraham, crofts and martin but as stated above if we are to stay up were are surely going to be seeing incoming offers for certain players! But there is also the players with contracts running out. Now of my belief we have whitbread and fox who are 2 of our main stays of the 1st XI who are yet to sign if im led to believe. Now as good as they are, might we see these replaced with better players? I believe as important as it is to keep harmony amongst the players, we stepped up from league 1 to champ making numerous changes and again from champ to prem so why cant we do it again come this summer? Yes we have good players, but for next season i am personally of the belief we need better in certain areas! 2 positions i would go for is a top striker and someone who can slip in on the right of the diamond plus get naughton on a perm!
Thanks Superman. Seemed plausible enough to me given that Drury hails from Cottenham and came to us from the Posh.
As I understand it - and it is a flimsy line of imformation - the Drury family are very happy in their South Norfolk home and have no intention of moving. Having said that, if 'arry can live in Dorset and manage Tottenham a 5 day a week commute to Peterborough for a season or so should not cause massive problems - he could go to Wymondham and catch the train!! Do we actually know who exactly is out of contract at the end of the season - it would be extremely disappointing to lose either Whitbread or Fox on a Bosman.
If we do lose someone on a Bosman, I can't see it for being lack of trying by Lambert and DM. Pl will know who he want to keep and DM will no doubt do what he can to make sure that PL keeps them.
Very good points. Every team improves year on year, so why shouldn't we? Even if that does mean we sacrifice a long serving player or a "character".
talented players arrive, less talented players leave, must happen each season and if this means a fans favourite being shown the door( and i am thinking of wes here) then it is something we fans will have to accept. i think the OP guess of 5 may be 1 too high. i would think more likely 4. as an aside is tom adeyemi becoming our ryan bertrand, always on loan but never progressing within his own team.
