very nice to see him get his second hat-trick, wasn't there tonight but i certainly enjoyed the first one at glanford park!
Er....yes, we won't be playing teams as **** as Barnsley every week. They were gash, even though we did our best to make them look good in the 2nd half. Great 3rd goal. His post match interview didn't sound overly convincing when asked by Burnsie if he'd be here next season. If someone offered £3m, then I'd take it. Buy 2 decent players.
As I said before, keep him. He looks hungry for goals and has shown he can play up front alone or in a 4-4-2. 26 goals in 1.5 seasons, not a bad statisitc by any means.
He always puts the effort in to be honest, it just went a bit better tonight with two goals laid on a plate by great buildup and one typical Fryatt run with a not so typical good finish! Fryatt didn't do much different to normal today. His last goal was quality and a really good finish, the best I've seen from him and if he got it in the corners like that more often he'd be perfect for us. He also missed one absolute bloody sitter in the first 5 minutes, if it wasn't for the hat-trick I'd have been furios about that one/. It was a great goal, the run as I've said above was typical Fryatt. Just like his goal at Ipswich which was shown on the big screen at half time, and the finish was right in the corner. If he put it there more often you'd never hear me moan about his finishing. You must have seen what I meant with that chance in the first few minutes though?
You weren't the bloke screaming for him to come off after eight minutes next to me was you? I did spend the rest of the game praising Fryatt at every oppurtunity. I still see where the Fryatt bashers come from, would be nice to see the percentage of matches he has scored in and not the goal to game ratio.
I can't believe you'd bring up a missed chance in the first few minutes, when he went on to score a hat-trick.
No, I still think he's our best striker despite what I say about his finishing. I didn't actually realise the first goal was his at first, from my angle it looked like a Stewart goal, and the second one looked like he'd bent it beautifully in the corner but it turned out it came off the 'keeper. The replay spoilt both goals for me.
Come on OLM. We know he scored a hat-trick and he did really well. He's done well in plenty of other games too and I accept that. But when he blatantly proves my point in something I get constantly criticised for, I'm going to bring it up. As it turns out I don't mind him missing that one at all because he made up for it with the last one, but it was exactly the kind of miss I keep describing and being called a **** for. I only bring it up to point out I'm not just talking bollocks.
There are only seven players in this league who have scored more goals than Fryatt this season, that's the fact, your opinion can't change that fact. I think you should put more effort into picking who to slag off next season, maybe try someone who doesn't do their job properly next time.
I'm with Premier on Fryatt but if he's at the club next season will support him, personally I hope he's sold and we get some new players in with the money. Had enough of this season in truth so might lay-off commenting on us for a while in case i turn into a TWF type merchant of doom
That comment surprises me to be honest Nick. Very good striker at this level and replacing him would cost a fortune.
You've completely missed the point on what I said. I told you the other day that I don't doubt he's scored goals, but that he could and should have had a lot more. He did today exactly what I've described he does too often and whilst I'm happy to let him off based on what he did after that, it doesn't change that what I said about him was proven tonight, as if it needed to be. You accused me of ignoring the blatant facts the other day and it's exactly what you're doing now. I've never stopped supporting him by the way. He's a City player and he gives his best for us. People seem to think I hate the guy but it couldn't be less true. I get frustrated by his finishing and that's all. There are plenty of other good players in our team who have aspects of their game that need work, even Chester and Hobbs haven't been perfect this season. The only reason I bring this up a lot is because everyone disagrees, if we all just agreed it wouldn't be worth talking about again!
Just got fed up with us not scoring when we needed a little bit more, and comments blaming lack of service a couple of weeks ago from Fryatt. Avoided the match tonight but glad we won anyhow obviously, just think Nicky can't experiment much with certain areas of the team or thinks he can't, so maybe we won't learn much for the rest of the season.
Off topic but did anyone else think Rosey was dreadful tonight? He couldn't 't do anything right and if Danny East had played that bad I'd be writing him off. The season can 't come quick enough for Liam, he's in a real poor run of form.
1. The transfer market usually deals with such things - it has for years; do you have any reason to believe it has disappeared? 2. Yes. 3. Tonight, yes. There have been far too many 'tonights' when the answer from most (him included) would have been no. 4. Rarely, but sometines they can see the trees, despite the wood. Strange that the final mutterings of failure to make the play-offs more or less listed all of the points of failure that supporters had been outlining since early December, at least. 5. Agreed - one that needs (needed) strengthening, but we have been told that it did not and now it is being inferred we have no money. A striker will cost us, even a bargain. I agree with those who say that Fryatt's tally should have been much higher, when considering the assists he has been offered - his own comments since Xmas seem to support that - so what's your problem?
He really did. Post Xmas in the first Prem season for weeks he persisted with what everyone else considered a 4-6-0 formation yet Brown claimed this was nonsense as Garcia was a striker. He then went on to say how Garcia also considered himself a striker.
Why would we sell our top scorer when he admits it's been tough to adapt but is getting there, admits it is improving him as a player, we do not play to his natural strengths but he still scores 15 goals and next season he will be more accomplished in the role he has been given and will be a better striker for it. Who do you suggest to replace him for a fee we are prepared to pay(nothing)?
