By the end of Jan we will know if he had any money to spend is my first points as the noises emanating from SoL seem to say we have no cash, but that could just be tactics. The problem in out team atm, and what did for SB is a lack of goals, we all know this time last year we had Bent, Gyan and Welbeck. Bruce could and should have brought replacements in and did not. Instead he brought 2 promising youngsters for the forward line, a midfielder (Gardner for 5/6 mill that has not played) and a couple of ageing Manure stars. Now MoN we all reckon is not stupid he knows we lack a strike force but we do not know what funds if any he has available to correct the crucial problem, I will watch with hope in my heart that at least one new forward will be on the books by the end of Jan. Do not be under any misapprehension we are in a relegation battle, goals will save us and therefore I hope for a proven striker sooner rather or later. Either that or a rocket up Bendtners arse or Ryan Noble to be as good in the 1st team as he is in the reserves...So a new striker it is.
Agree smithy lad, we do have some ****e though but its better quality ****e on short term deals compared to Keanes ****e. A couple of O'Neill's players in is all I'm expecting plus Heskey perhaps
Fair points smithy, we still have a lot of crap at the club though who don't have a snowball in hells chance of playing so we should bite the bullet and get rid or move on (the second being my preferred method). Having faith in the youths is great but, we need to temper that with the need to survive this year after as you say constant team rebuilding by that man. Sticking with the players I said obviously we won't get them in by January but, we can make a start and perhaps move on the last of the deadwood.
Competition for places is always good. But it isn't going to happen here soon. The wage bill/turnover ratio is already way too high. Until Niall and his team get some significant results, the squad will not get bigger. And any signings will probably have to be paid for by exits.
.... ...No argument BUT some things to consider....one of the great things about having a manager like MON is that he is totally different from the type weve had . People have made comparisons with Clough and Im certain there are loads of similarities. Clough took ordinary players and made them extraordinary....Surely thats what we should be looking forward to....Christ there are still some who havent had a start under him yet...(including Bendtner)...Tell you what ,I think, even MORE than a big signing, some body from a lowly status who starts "doing it" is more beneficial than your cheque book 50 zillion Torres type. Other teams look and say "God wheres he come from?...O`Neills at it again..... Cloughie signed O`Hare from us.....look at Stokes side full of people we discarded but playing out of their skins(In Europe).... `cos somebody`s handling them right... Over the years weve let class players go...I wonder where MON would have stood on Hendersons departure....
