I don't think Vydra will leave. Obviously we will lose Chalobah and Briggs, both of pretty much said goodbye on Twitter. As well as them, i think we'll lose Yeates, Dickinson, Neuton, and possibly Cassetti.

At the moment we only have two goalkeepers, Almunia and Bond, so we definitely need another couple. I'd heard a rumour about who they wanted to bring in if we went up...now i don't have a clue what we'll do.

It's going to be a fascinating summer...but i trust them completely!

I think Vydra will still be with us next season, unless a club wants to buy him for £15+ million. The Pozzo's will be targeting automatic promotion next season and Vydra is key to that.

I think you are right Bucks. I wonder how the players and GFZ will cope with the added pressure?

We need to either buy Kevin phillips or pay him enough to persuade him not to play for anyone else <steam>

What you need is an old head who can do it in the Championship week in week out.

I suggest you borrow Grant Holt from us, and in return we will take Vydra off your hands <whistle>

I heard yesterday that the Pozzos were really going to back us in the summer. They've said that finishing even 17th in the Prem is worth more then if Udinese made it to the knockout stages of the CL league, that is how much money is in the Prem.

Out of the first team squad, I think we won't keep Geijo and have a feeling Cassetti will want to move back to his family. I really hope he gives us one more season. Vydra is a tough one to call. He has one year left on his contract, so if he hears of a bid from a big team, I would be worried he won't sign a contract with with us or Udinese, and push for the move so Udinese have to sell or risk losing him for free next summer.

I'd like us to sign up Ekstrand, Anya, Pudil, Battocchio, Anya, Vydra and would like them to give Nueton another season, even if this is just another seasons loan. I also want them to sign up Almunia for another season, and maybe see if Hall would sign a pay as you play contract. Think GZ should also ask Mourinho if they'll let us have Chalobah for another season to further his development.

I'd actually like us to sign another keeper and send Bond on loan to get him first team experience, to eventually take over from Manuel. Would be nice to see Britt in and around then squad to see how he does too

I would like to pose this question:
If the Pozzo's are so good for us as Zola and company would have us believe why then are there no plans to build the new stand. We will go again for promotion next season with another swathe of foreign players to get us there so why then no architects, planners or council involvement at Vicarage Road to prepare the ground for the Premier Leaque. If we stated building tomorrow, it would only just be finished before the start of the 2014/15 season.
Even the south west corner has a reason to be built insofar that it will generate corporate money.

At least we have a lovely manager in GFZ but, is he simply too nice to be a coach is he firm enough with his players when they underperform. Is he slightly naive with tactics?

I expect we will continue to flout the loan rules and be a constant topic of conversation for the papers with our reputation getting lower and lower

Thankfully some of the new supporters we suddenly had towards the end of the season will drift back to Man Utd, Liverpool Chelsea etc

But. Onwards and upwards it could be worse at least someone will be drinking champagne on his own

I think they have said they will start to complete the South-West corner this summer, no?

There are rumours that Spurs are interested in Vydra, I can see him going for an offer upwards of £10m. Briggs and Chalobah will return, the rest I can see us keeping if we want them (apart from possibly Cassetti). I think a few fringe players will leave, my main hope this summer is that Zola allows some of our academy players to come through, so that conveyor belt continues. I know they will have fewer opportunities than in the past, but I still think it is important that every season there are one of two young guys that make their debut and look like they can break into the 1st team squad.

Also I think we lack an aerial threat, and for that matter an aerial defence for set pieces with Fitz Hall and Nosworthy out. At time there is a lack of grit in midfield as well when Eustace doesn't play. We need someone who has a bit of brute force rather than just fancy skills (although preferably a player with both) who can win those balls when games get scrappy.

As I understand it, there are plans to build a new stadium but they said it will start when we eithe rget promoted or consistently get a £15k gate - otherwise it is not financially viable yet as there isn't the demand for it. I'm sure I read somewhere that if we did go up on Monday, work would start on the enw stand pretty quickly.

As for the SW corner;

"completing the redevelopment will kick-start Watford’s plans to undertake a complete refurbishment of Vicarage Road"

I think the replacement to Chalobah is important in this.... I think he lost us a LOT of possession.... and I guess the system will change....

I would suggest that all this speculation will remain just that, speculation. Only if you have an overall view of the current playing resources of Udinese, Granada and Watford, the likelihood of transfers in and out, and the financial position of the clubs could you guess at what the changes in playing personnel might be.

After all, who even at the beginning of last season had heard of Vydra, Abdi, Cassetti, Batocchio etc. etc. let alone Almunia, Forestieri..........

I would, however, hazard a guess that there will be an influx of talent that may even eclipse that of last close season and include players that we know nothing of now, becoming household names to us by this time next year.

Exciting eh?

We could get to play an away game at a 3 sided ground. Unless Bournemouth have the end mentioned completed in time: http://www.footballgroundguide.com/bournemouth/index.htm

Depending when the match is (fixtures out on 19th June and Capital One Cup draw on 17th), I'll probably be going with it being the nearest away trip to Jersey. Shame they've stopped the flights to Bournemouth Airport.

Bournemouth and Yeovil are two I will certainly be aiming for as pretty easy to get to from here. Done Bournemouth before but Yeovil will be a new ground for me

Not entirely sure I get where you stand after this post?

The East Stand is a mess and although there were plans in place I would suggest that the actual 'buildability' is far worse than most laymen realise. Frankly it is likely to be an inordinately expensive project and it may well be, as others have mooted, that completing the SW corner is viable and that this is followed up by a new stadium - possibly elsewhere. Whether or not that is 'popular' is one thing but here are some things to consider:

1. The stadium is built over a disused gravel pit so ground conditions are going to be pretty awful. Any redevelopment of the East Stand is going to require a serious amount of groundwork including grubbing out the entire side and ensuring that both the North East and South East corners are stabilised. The piling is likely to be very deep. It is not a simple case of bore some holes and chuck in a few tons of concrete. It requires big machinery in a very confined space.

2. The Lower Rous is probably the worst of all the post-Taylor Report stands. There are no saving graces. Poor vision of the playing area and the space above (even worse for rugby!). The Vic End is so tight that, rightly, the Stadium Safety Officer has banned the sale of alcohol there for both home and away fans. Add to this the significant slope of the pitch, especially from the halfway line to the Vic End, and you have a myriad of problems as soon as you either try to build new stands or level the pitch. It is just not practicable unless you rebuild the whole ground and relay the pitch to suit. The Rookery and Vic are built at different levels, they have a different 'rake' (that is the angle at which the eye-line from the seat to the playing surface is measured) and are optimal to the existing pitch. Alter the level of the pitch and all you will see is the back of some ones head and not all of the pitch.

3. I can think of few worse grounds to get to. Parking, remoteness from rail links (High Street station the exception that proves the rule), poor traffic circulation etc. Spurs and Palarse are arguably worse but there isn't much in it. That is not in the Pozzo's hands... unless we move, which will be subject to a great deal of opposition primarily for 'sentimental' reasons rather than pragmatic. We cannot really suggest that The Vic is a smouldering cauldron atmospherically (much as I hate Palarse there are things to be learnt from them in terms of atmosphere) so saying a new stadium will be 'soulless is, well, a bit moot really. A new stadium built along 'Bundesliga' specifications (safe standing etc.) plus proper facilities for fans, community and corporate alike is the probably the best way forward.

We get what we want: good access, good facilities and a much improved atmosphere. We lose our spiritual home, sure, but I wonder if it would not be better if we did?

As for GFZ: he is still learning. Second or third full season as the main man? Learnt a lot and he made the big changes against Leicester to get us in the final. He must see something in Geijo that we don't (and he had a proven, if not exactly brilliant record) and we all know how mercurial Fessi is. I think he got it just about right on the day, the players just did not perform and that is down to them.

No flouting of the rules except by the previous administrations... and they all go back to court soon. We are in a unique position. I'm lovin' it!
