None of the members of the teams that got to the semi final against Millwall or the final against Liverpool of revered as much as Gary Rowell for his Hat Trick at St James Park. Yes if we win the Cup, cup every day, but that was not the question, the question was just the Quarter Final.
i said, you are not guaranteed to get to the final, and if you do, win it. We could win the quarter final, get Chelsea in the semi, they click and hammer us 6-0, that would knock the confidence big time. or we could get beat off Newcastle, that shatters our confidence, we struggle big time from then on, and get beat in the Quarters anyway. Lets be honest, its a silly question, I want both, and think we will get both, but losing one could have an effect on the other, same as winning one could.
It may be a silly question, but it does show how different people have different ways of thinking. Mine is that if we were to get to the final, and win it, the derby results pale into insignificance. However, to do that, we would have to win the quarter. Thus, to me, winning the quarter is more important. It's a theoretical question, and they throw up theories. Ifs, buts and maybes.
For me it would be to win the cup tie and draw at the sportsdirect or whatever it'll be called next week, still only won one of them so works for me.
As you haven't stated win one lose the other.. beat Newcastle and draw in cup game then win on penalties!
