IF we overcome Sheffield Utd , id rather us play Arsenal , i'd hate for us to lose to Wigan and miss out on both the Cup and a Europa spot . Also it would be nice to meet a team above is in the league on this cup run , we have had a very kind draw
Most Championship clubs and some Prem clubs now mouth that platitude. Try 'Teamwork to make the Dream work'
No. First qualification is league finishing position. That means top 5 and the FA Cup runners up every season if the FA Cup winner is in the top 5. Thanks to Man City being the LC winners and the runners up of that competition not being eligible to take the place that has been extended to 6th place unless they drop out of the European places themselves.
You're wrong. Winning FA cup is the strongest way to qualify for the Europa league in England, guaranteeing straight passage in to the group stage. If the FA cup winners finish outside of the top 4 they qualify through their cup win and go straight into the group stage. If the FA cup winners finish 5th the league qualifying place then drops down to 6th who go in to the playoff round, and I believe carling cup winners go in at the 3rd qualifying round. If the FA cup winners qualify for the champions league, the FA cup qualification gets passed down to 5th place, the league qualification gets passed down to 6th place, and the league cup qualification goes to the FA cup runners up, unless they also qualify for the champions league in which case it goes to 7th place.
UEFA Europa League There are three places in the UEFA Europa League available: the FA Cup winners will enter at the Group Stage; the fifth place team in the Barclays Premier League will enter at the Play-Off stage; and the Football League Cup winners will enter at the Q3 stage. In the event the FA Cup winners are qualified for the UEFA Champions League the FA Cup runners-up will qualify, but in the place reserved for the lowest ranking Barclays Premier League representative. The place with direct access to the Group Stage will be given to the club that finishes in the highest position in the Barclays Premier League of the clubs qualifying for the UEFA Europa League. English winners of the UEFA Europa League will enter at the Group Stage, gaining an extra domestic place only if they fail to qualify through other means for the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League. If the holders of the UEFA Europa League have already qualified for Europe, no extra domestic place will be gained. Should the FA Cup winners, runners-up (if applicable) and the Football League Cup winners already have qualified for Europe, their place goes to the next best placed clubs in the Premier League. Fair Play winners enter at the Qualifying round 1 stage. This place will automatically go the three best-placed national associations in the UEFA Respect fair play rankings provided they achieve an average of 8.0 points or more. The top three associations will then be entitled to enter the club that has either won their domestic top-division fair play competition, or if they are already qualified, the runners-up and so forth. http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/fans/faqs/who-qualifies-to-play-in-europe/
Kinell. Far too complicated for me that lot. It will be easier just winning the FA Cup then unscrambling all of that/
Aye. Saves the season starting in July. Edit: not only that but the playoff round can be very slippy. For example, some teams that didn't manage to proceed through the qualifying rounds and in to the group this season include: Sporting Braga Spartak Moscow Besiktas Feyenoord Nice Stuttgart Udinese Club Brugge Saint Etienne Bursaspor Vitesse Sparta Prague Lech Poznan FC Utrecht Airbus UK The qualifying rounds are seeded, and as a member of the worlds highest ranked nation I believe we would be seeded whatever way we qualified, should we qualify, but just looking at those teams that didn't make it is an indicator that those early rounds can be far from straight forward and some half decent sides are unseeded in there. Not to mention a good chunk of those unseeded teams are either midway through their domestic season or just finishing it, where as our players would have only just got back off holiday with barely a minutes pre season under their belts. Definite banana skins.
i reckon everyone one of our players would be up for it , unlike maybe players at clubs more accustomed to CL football and perks of Ranking
Well, we won't be getting a fair play place... http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/fair-play.html
Feyenoord would be a good trip. Their ground is the shortest journey by road from the KC of any top flight club.
They'd need to progress through the qualifying rounds first, they didn't manage that this year losing 3-1 on aggregate to Kuban Krasnodar (who were unseeded). But I agree, would be a great trip, their fans are supposed to be nucking futs though aren't they.
Wasn't it Feyenoord who were supposed to play at the KC and it was cancelled because the Police were scared?
Yes. They do have a proper hooligan element though I believe, not just silly tossers like suited&booted.
Most Dutch teams have a group of proper hooligans, although those at De Kuip are amongst the most notorious. please log in to view this image Do you know where that picture was taken? At a training session. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Het_Legioen
I wonder how many of those were rushed off to hospital suffering asphyxiation? Thought I'd get it in before anyone else did.
Agreed. Could take the car and do a booze cruise as well. Either Utrecht or Feyenoord would do for me. Just to confirm, Hull City would enter the europa league @ the 3rd qualifying round stage. The final stage before the group draw is made. Trips to Holland Austria and Switzerland or Sweden would be nice in the group stages imo.
