I agree money has been badly spent on donkeys like Danny Graham but on player's like Johnson I don't think so. Plus like I said Mr short has got his money back.
Spot on, Dick. £48.5m on five players - and we can't get out of the bottom five! I don't believe there are fifteen clubs in this division that have all spent more than us. O.k., there are some mega-spending clubs around - but fifteen of them? Really?
He certainly hasn't spent HIS money. Both NE clubs are getting ruined by crap owners. I'd rather have Short but he still is not ideal.
We are down this season pal. If we stay up I will eat my own **** LOL. I think we finish bottom if iam honest.
At first we were paying a premium for established players. And we hit some cracking signings like Bent and Catts, Sess and Gyan. Than out of nowhere, having established trust in the transfer market and losing our biggest assets, Bruce went mental and suddenly we find ourselves paying a premium for Average players. O'Shea 5m, Elmo 2m, Ji 2m, Gardner 5m, Connor 9m, Brown 1m. That's 24 million blown in one summer replacing class with average. Our squad was ****ed from then imo. Bruce gets sacked because he can't get his brick-a-brac squad performing and in comes MoN and in comes AJ, good signing who's paid for himself season on season. But than we've got Fletch for 12m which transpires on his return was worth about 5-6m tops. DG 5m and Alfie 3m, neither worth a penny we paid. At this point all ellis can see is money on players going down the pan. Not surprising when the extent of our scouting network was Pop Robson doing his work by watching sky, the odd match in Ireland on his weekend breaks and a few matches in turkey on his Holiday. Ellis then decided to take on a continental approach after listening to some ****er and hires a temperamental newbie manager and this idiot who knows everything about Italian football and **** all about English football and puts him in charge of transfers. At this point our squad as zero identity, zero balance and holes everywhere. Di Fanti than uses his non existing budget to fill it with poor budget foreigners and decent loans. That summer brought in Karlsson(no future), Roberge(no future), Diakité(Gone), Mannone(lost place but worth while), Altidore(gone), Ba(no future), Giaccherini(Class but a crock), Mavrias(No future), Dossena(gone). Just when you thought we couldn't make a bad squad worse. The wheels fall off well and truely and Manager and DoF are both sent packing. In comes Congerton and Gus. Congerton puts toghether a shortlist we know of of Pants Coates, Alderweireld, Jones, Richards, PVA, Ki and Rodwell. Gus in most part chooses the wrong players. Then we have Gus admitting that Congerton had agreed to his personal requests of bring in Bridcutt and Buckley and hey presto. Half a decade of idiotic transfer business and we have the mess we're in. How do we deal with it? Well I'd say If Congerton is remain in charge he need's to be more strict over his power like defanti was. His shortlist wasn't bad, If we had Ki, Alderweireld and Richards playing this season instead of Jones, Coates and Rodwell I honestly think we'd be safe by now. From the shortlist that's emerged I trust Congerton's judgement more than anyone we've had a club in the last half decade. But this DoF thing needs to be all or nothing imo. I don't blame Gus for the freedom and choices given by Congerton. Because as DoF the buck stops with him full stop. Gus' choices aren't to blame, Congerton allowing him that choice is to blame. Congerton needs to take full control. If he can't get shot and give our next manager full control. For all di fanti's choices being ****ing terrible. He governed his responsibilities correctly. Beyond that **** knows what to do mate. It's a year on year rolling mess isn't it?
We won't know about it will we as you'll be ****ing off and never coming back. See my sig to remind yourself.
Regardless of what league we're in? Aye I know you will. It's just fun to show everyone that your word is worth **** all.
Who's this "him"? You seem to think that Ellis Short's job is to give us free money to waste out of his own pocket. Look, Sunderland football club is not, repeat not, a charity. He's here to run a responsible business, and I think he's doing it well. What we're short of now is 'football men' worth a damn. You don't believe me? Well, when you go to a game, bear in mind that there is over £50m worth of flesh in red and white stripes. Sunderland 0 - QPR 2. Sunderland 0 Aston Villa 4. Sunderland 1 Crystal Palace 4. £50m for that! And it's all Short's fault? - you have to be joking.
