Wasnt he with LVG at Holland? Don't know what he's doing at the moment and no idea what his record is like.
Exactly. This is why it's crucial to have a 'committee' which excludes Rodgers from the process (other than letting them know which positions he needs strengthening in). That committee then needs a leader in the form of a Sporting Director. And Rodgers role is reduced to 'Head Coach'. Means he has more time to focus on coaching and developing players, and not worrying about scouting and fighting about which players are signed. If he accepts this, great. But I don't see it happening because of his ego.
I dunno... I think committee is wrong. Yes a technical director who shapes the club but that shaping should also invole picking the coach too so..... can you appoint a technical director and leave rodgers in situ... i don't think so. For me what we need is some old fashioned sense where you actually look at the guy and apply a modicum of common sense... Is this player good enough... i think thats lacking when you see aspas, lambert and balotelli turn up.
That was Kluivert. Afaik he's only been at Milan, and didn't last very long. No idea what his record was like though.
Just thinking out load but a few I wouldn't mind... De Boer, Klopp, Pereira stand out as young managers. Further afield I admire Jorge Jesus at Benfica... Biesla is doing really well... Lucescu at Shaktar also. A manager will a bit of weight behind their name would be ideal... then we bring in the club identity with the coaches/assistants - likes of Carra, Hyypia, maybe even Stevie. Genuinely thought Sami would be our manager after Brendan (never thought he'd last five years) but he hasn't really done it since Bayer. EDIT: I think you have to look at Bayern for the ideal structure... entire club is full of very capable directors who have all been involved in football and with the club for a long time - they get most of their transfers spot on, their coaches spot on... they've rebuilt Bayern to the position of choosing from the world's best. From youth to the top the club has a clear identity. Look at us... what does the transfer committee do? Do we trust Ayre? Seems from the outside like it's all a bit amateurish.
At Milan, he won 11 and drew 2 of 22 games scoring 28 and conceding 26 before being sacked. That's it
seedorfs never shown a scrap of loyalty anywhere he's been as a player. so unless he's hied as a three year coach with a top man as technical director... f no...
Tobes beat me to it He also spent four years at Real which isn't too bad considering that decade at Milan.
1992–1995 Ajax 65 1995–1996 Sampdoria 32 1996–2000 Real Madrid 121 2000–2002 Internazionale64 2002–2012 Milan 300 2012–2014 Botafogo 58 noting he is now 38 he joined milan at 26/27 so yeah... he got well paid and at 30 when he usually would have f'd off found it was easier stay. especially in the senior citizens organisation that was milan at that point. Loyalty is not only "hen it suits you" ask ajax.. who he f'd over... or sampdoria or inter.... he stay 4 years at Madrid and might have stayed ehre but for hiddink ****ing him out... you take him on then if he's so loyal....
Seedorf is too big a risk. De Boer is the one for me And as mentioned above, Bayern Munich have an amazing structure in place. They have some ex-players involved in running the club and operations, and they have businessmen looking after the commercial side (I believe they are owned by some of the biggest companies in Germany, and they have senior figures from these companies sitting on the Bayern board). Huge commercial deals which means the club is self sustainable.
I think companies like SAP and Lufthansa have stakes in them as well. Either way - they are a very well run unit and we should look to emulate. Personally, that's what I think FSG are trying to do.
Lufthansa is a premium partner, but I don't think they have a holding. Dietmar Hopp, co-foudner of SAP, is a financial backer of Hoffenheim and got them into the Bundesliga.
Liverpool's American owners are considering possible replacements for under-fire boss Brendan Rodgers and are said to be weighing up the possibility of approaching United States national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
