Personally I don't think he's going anywhere before the end of the season. Would be of a typical knee-jerk reaction to sack him on 3 poor months. Yes he's to blame for many things but that's discussed on other threads. My concern is that before the end last transfer window, we desperately needed a striker, and no one was available and we ended up with Mario. What options do we have in January? A new manager cannot simply bring with him a couple of players just like that. Contracts/Agents make is messy these days. My worry is that he simply does not thrown away another £30m on a 'risk' striker/GK.
This annoys me a little. If this is seriously true then those players need ****ing off as that attitude stinks!
How can you play for a manager when a) he hardly plays you, b) drops you after 1 mistake, c) shows favouritism to sh*tter players and d) openly criticises you and not others ...
Play for the club and Liverbird, the manager is just another cog. I don't care how much you rate or dislike the manager, the clubs pays your wages so if you're picked you play to best of your abilities. If you're choosing not to perform for the existing manager you don't deserve to play for the club. Simple! Although nowhere near a professional level, I've played in a few teams where I thought the manager was a twat. Never stopped me trying!
Nah, it happens at every club. Manager makes it plain Player a) isn't in favour. Player a) starts grumbling behind the scenes, chats to Player b ) and c) who have had the same treatment from the manager, collectively they decide it'd be better for their careers at the club, if the manager got the bullet. The games begin. It happened to Moyes last season, it happened to Hodgson at Anfield, and Rodgers is on the cusp of going the same way.
And AVB at Chelsea But I agree with Gerrez, you are hired to do a job not hired to like the boss. Unfortunately you need to be bulletproof to be putting players in their place, if results are bad then this just makes it worse for Rodgers, like Fergie, if you started s**t with him, you were gone out the door, except if you are Rooney
agreed it does, and everyone must find it ****ing irritating, only way to stop that ****e sadly is performance related ****e in player contracts, soon stop if it effected their pockets. ie the club who pays them!!
It's not beyond players to blame the manager for their own shortcomings though, AVB at Chelsea was a prime example of that.
It does, but you're talking about pampered millionaire footballers who surround themselves with agents and WAG's who tell them how ****ing great they are all day long. When someone challenges them and their enormous ego's they tend to be bitter about it. The problem that someone like Rodgers also has in a failing dressing room, is his lack of real pedigree in the game, as both player and manager. They'll be starting to look at him and wonder what's behind the veneers............
The main culprit being a club legend that is argued to be on a par with King Kenny as the greatest ever Liverpool player. Only one winner there!
Yep. Hence the reason his name's on the teamsheet every week, as Mr Clever had figured that one out for himself mate
I hear what you';re saying Gez but it's extremely difficult not be de-motivated when you're treated like sh*t. Are you telling me that the likes of Agger or Reina didn't love the club? They were p*ssed off at the treatment they received and they wanted to be playing. It's the same with Sakho - boss drops him everytime he makes one mistake yet someone like Lovren is almost undroppable. This isn't like our work environments where we essentially come to collect our pay. Footballers want glory and they want to be playing, especially given their relatively short careers. So all in all - whilst it's noble and honourable to play for your club, but when you have an incompetent fool ruining your career, you're going to struggle.
disagree slightly, until his attributes are better used, ie 30 mins coming off the bench a game type thing.
No matter what manager you look at, there will be players that feel they were treated like ****. Especially when talking about players in the calibre of Reina and Agger; former first choice picks in decline and in need of replacing. I'm not saying Brod is a saint that can do no wrong, far from it. It just pisses me off when players don't give their all for whatever reason. there are millions that would kill to be in their position yet they think '**** it' because they don't like the manager. This not only undermines the manager but also the club and everyone associated to that club including the fans! Remember, without the fans there is no club.
I agree with Jenners. Gerrard's influence needs addressing and he needs to be playing because he deserves to rather than for sentimental reasons.
