Trying to bring back the 'glory days' of the 70s and 80s after watching too much Danny Dyer - remember when attendences dropped off a cliff prior to the sky/PL deal and implementation of the Taylor report?
But still less at the MKM than a lot of places where it doesn’t create as much hysteria. There are clips every week of far worse which doesn’t result in the over the top stewarding we get.
100 rushing the oppo kinda justifies the numbers of stewards for me. Not just the line between home and away fans, but also the line trying to deter others with seats elsewhere from entering the block closest to their fans to cause bother- where they can't be identified by their seat/ticket number.
So why don’t they do it at stadiums with larger numbers of people who could do far worse than the bunch of little kids we have? The lack of atmosphere will get even worse and we will end up with 4 sides all sat down and passionless and the only noise coming from away fans if some people had their way. We hardly have any, a few in North Stand and one section in East Stand getting behind the team as it is.
Without having been in the North stand since the changes its hard to understand what sort of people are in there. Is it full of young morons in fake stone island gear?
Possible because different stadia have different layouts and/or the wannabe stone islanders perhaps sit somewhere they can't as easily get to the away fans. Many grounds the away fans are in a separate section/tier.
Why don’t they have lines of stewards between the sections of away fans as they have entered the block closest to home fans to confront them. The only flares launched this season have been by away fans. Not that the hysterical articles about trouble at the MKM mentioned that.
Really? Burnley’s idiots were 4 feet away from Blackburn’s today. Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Everton, Brentford have an aisleway of separation to separate bigger away followings with a lot more rivalry than we have.
Because they are posing. They would run a mile if anyone confronted them. They know they can’t reach them. Did anyone actually exchange blows. The legendary Sargeant Sargeant once said if the police just stood back and said carry on and kick each other to death and we will just remove the bodies there would be less trouble as only two or three on each side would want to have a go if they thought it wouldn’t be broken up and they could get a battering.
Then you'd be whinging about 'what are we paying them to be there for' - meanwhile reprisals and chaos goes unchecked and escalates and innocent folk get caught up in it. Come off it, you know that's not going to happen. You seem to be blaming everyone except the ****ing inadequates causing the bother.
Any figures for how many people have been injured in all this chaos and reprisals? For a supposed rough, tough working class city Hull seems to have a lot of delicate little things compared to elsewhere. I am not blaming anyone else. I am complaining about the over reaction compared to elsewhere with worse problems. Maybe you will be happy with an atmosphere akin to a night at the theatre with everyone sat down politely applauding, not too enthusiastically of course, don’t want to traumatise anyone, but others won’t be.
Been part of plenty of great atmospheres that don't depend on scrotes behaving like extras from green street. There's what 200 out of 15k that are supposedly responsible for the atmosphere? Absolutely not. Quicker the scum is identified and banned the better. Then hopefully we can get back to more sensible stewarding proportional to the majority as opposed to the minority. Fewer club fines, lower stewarding and policing costs could be the difference between stretching the budget or not for an extra player in Jan.
If you think that this affects buying a player that is utter bollocks, The stewarding levels are determined by how many sections are open. Look at Wolves for example, loads of stewards down the tunnels only coming out for the last few minutes. Half as many stewards stood in front of the Gelderd End for 7,000 as we have for a couple of thousand in North Stand. Other grounds have a few stewards sat down out of sight, we have them stood up glaring at everybody. A constant going and frying in front of East Stand, reacting like headless chickens if City score as if it is going to cause a major insurrection.Other clubs concentrate the stewarding around the away fans, we of course do the opposite. As for the police and their costs, before the lockdown and the emergence of these young chavs the police were charging us 5 times more than Arsenal are charged for 60,000:crowds. Where do you suit? I am guessing not the North Stand.
Be interesting to see how much in fines we end up paying over this season - and it might not amount to a first team transfer fee and wages, but that's not what I was suggesting. If we are anywhere near close to our investment ceiling for this year then it could be the difference between a couple of academy lads getting deals or not.
