Agree with both points - which might come as a surprise to some - but I maintain we should have done way more with the resources we had this season plus the position we had got ourselves into in January.
Sorry Fosse, just one of those days... I'll start again... If we were going to sack NP before the next season starts, would we have just done it already?
Oh I see - I've no idea to be honest - owners do things in their own time. Straight after the cup final Mancini was asked if he'd be in charge at Man City next season - he was adamant that he would be. Is it beyond possibility that our owners could be speaking to someone right now and would want it all sorted before announcing that NP is sacked? - not at all - look what happened to Nigel Adkins at Southampton.
Oh yeah we could already be negotiating like crazy to give MON a good contract for next year, theres no harm window shopping
Play-off semi-final against Cardiff - VIP 'guest' Paulo Sousa - manager at the start of the follwing season, Paulo Sousa Play-off semi-final against Watford - VIP 'guest' Neil Lennon ... I'm just playing admittedly, LOL - but you get the drift ...
I think so, yes. It's been pretty clear for a while that Pearson wasn't going to be sacked because of the slump. If, as some have suggested, they didn't sack him because the slump was near the end of the season and they didn't want to cause disruption, then I think he'd have gone by down. We finished the season relatively strongly, so that won't harm his chances. If he's sacked for not winning the play-offs that, with five tough games to go, it looked like we might not even make, then he'll be a victim of his own success in that regard. They may be looking at their options - I hope they are, you should always do so - but unless they can make a truly stellar appointment, it looks like Nigel's staying for now.
Probably, if a little cautiously ... it's difficult to judge managerial quality in Scotland because of the dominance of the old firm - but he undoubtedly got them going this season with that fabulous Champions League campaign - plus he had a very good role model in MON - the other thing about Lenny was that he was a very intelligent player himself - very like MON in that. He is also very driven and very resilient (the sectarian ****e he has put up with). Finally - not sure if its down to him or scouts etc but he has unearthed some gems, Victor Wanyama in particular. Lots of positives there for me - plus it always helps to have been a club legend.
