No way Jonas will get dropped, he's hugely important to the way we play, particularly in Pardews opinion. It'll be instead of Ben Arfa or Cisse I'd guess, the latter in the 4-2-3-1 we've started playing

No player should be guaranteed their place, everyone needs the competition for places. If we stick Elia in then Jonas might raise his game further then we will do better and live happily ever after :)

Can't say I know much of the lad but he sounds promising.

Maybe if we need to dominate the midfield we can take a striker off and put him in either behind the striker or on the flank, also worth noting Jonas isn't getting any younger...
Another possibility is that Pardew is still, for some reason, frustrated by Ben Arfa and looking for another option, common sense say's this shouldn't happen though.

We can't just play 4-4-2 all the time as some games call for changes. Face it, if we wanted 5 in midfield, we don't have many options past Obertan.

If one player doesn't deserve dropping its Jonas. On work ethic alone. I love Guti :)

Played for FC Twente while Tiote was there.

We could of scouted Elia while we scouted Tiote, plus they're mates. <ok>

    ...I assume.

Do we not care about quality crosser into the box anymore?

Because with Jonas weren't not going to get that, and Ben Arfa will just cut in and try and score.

It's ridiculous really. We'll have two absolutely beasts in the box in the next few weeks, and no one seems to care about having players on the wings that can cross well.

Benny will feed the beasts. He has been trying to feed Shola, but he ain't having it - I'm sure the Demba's will :)

Elia is also dutch. Krul is dutch. This means they must be best friends therefore he is signing.

What tells you Elia can't cross? It's not like non of our players can't cross either.

Anyway, I think this deal is plausible. We could be covering ourselves for certain circumstances and a loan with an option to buy will let us see how things pan out. Cissé could be **** for all we know (hypothetically).

    NOOOOOOO!!!! You missed my point.

I'm not saying Elia can't cross, I'm talking about our team now, and people saying Jonas wont be dropped. Jonas' crossing is average and inconsistent. He whips in about one quality ball every 3 games.

Ben Arfa doesn't cross often, and we all would agree that he should cut in and try and score, and work his way around the box.

The only great crosser of the ball in the team Raylor and Cabaye. But Cabaye is a central player, not a winger, and Raylor is slow as ****.

If we have to drop Jonas to get a winger playing that can put quality balls into the box, I say lets do it!!

I realise Jonas' contribution, but I'd sacrifice Jonas' tackling and assistance in defense, for some quality deliveries for our strikers!

yes jonas has a high work rate and is very important to the first team, but having to do that for a full season and keep it consistent is going to be very hard work, it would be nice to take the pressure off him a little

It will all depend on the game though!

If we're playing a really tough game, like one of the top teams away, play Jonas for his work rate and defensive work.

If we're playing a team we really should be beating, play Elia for his deliveries.
