You are right, If we want quality in charge then you have to pay for it, we still think league2 and I accept we have to be careful, but this decision could decide the future of this club. If you want cheap I am sure Accringtons, John Coleman would take the job for next to nothing.

I hope they paid for the jolly themselves and not put it down to club expenses.

    However.....

I'm hearing from the same source that Marcelo Bielsa has agreed to be the new manager and has signed a 2-year contract.

Jenkins pet project cost us a bundle ,Laudrup payout , Monk payout , Gomis wages while he sat .7 million CB,the Eder, Tabanou disaster , Possible Vorm payout and penalty pending.
So now he has to try to low ball his way through this mess with 100,000,000 on the line next season .
Hope you enjoyed your game within our game Huw , good luck ....were all counting on you.

Agree. There's no point spending millions on the training/academy facilities if we are going to be relegated. This smacks of spending as little as possible, increase the clubs value through the new facilities etc, milk in the revenues for themselves and then sell for as much financial gain as possible.

Frankly if by a bit of good play and a bit of luck and Curtis goes on a role ,I'd let him run with the ball while taking my sweet ole time really looking to hire from a position of strength instead of total necessity.
Would solve a lot of financial and transfer goodies having to be dangled in front of a pending manager , we have good players , Curtis might be the one to get the best out of them starting with Two straight home games .

I'd be happy with Curtis up to the FA Cup game and the new man takes over for the cup, so no pressure as PL survival is more important .

I can't agree with that ,of course spending the money on Academy and the infrastructure was very much the priority once we got promoted . better to have that in place and develop the youth for when we drop back down , this has the potential to increase the income stream by selling on players developing players who may not make the grade at a higher level but more than adequate for the lower leagues When you see the likes of Southampton making £135.5 million on the sale of 5 players then it's more that worth investing in 2 first class training facilities ,I'm not saying we have at the moment anyone near that sort of class but Joe Allan , Ben Davies Shaun Mc Donald Jazz Richards have all recently come through to make a career at the top level and in turn made some money for the club .You have to speculate to accumulate and the facilities we have now will long outlast the current board and most of us on here which is not a bad legacy to leave behind for future generations to enjoy .

I'd agree yes, but Southampton reinvest some of their money into the squad. Take away the Fernandez deal, we've probably spent less than £15million in the last 4 transfer windows. I'm all for the investment in infrastructure (and the benefits long term are potentially huge). However, what's the point of all of this if we are not in the PL?

If we were to get relegated, the negatives ie the financial situation of being relegated could be catastrophic.

What we need is local talent coming through.
I often watch local football, junior, senior league and I can honestly tell you that the talent is not out there anymore.

With a good £10 million to spare if you factor Allen and Sinclairs transfers. I'd like to vet to see our net spend since being in the league.

I agree. I find that the quality of even the 'professionals' minus minus Ronaldo, Messi and Suarez has greatly diminished over the past 10 years.

Its all about balance , we don't have a large Stadium , no rich owner willing to pump in millions , limited income streams & we're over reliant on TV money for our income then look at what we've achieved to date. Personally I'm more than happy looking how far the Club has grown and which has been in per potion to our limitations. The PL didn't invent football and I was following this Club long before we got there and and I'll be there if and when we drop out as will many I'm sure .Southampton actually invested yet more money into an already excellent Academy building a new Barn extra pitches , a new grandstand and class rooms , money well spent imo. You mention it would be catastrophic should we drop out and you could be right but it would be more catastrophic if we had spent the money on a bigger squad of yet more over rated over paid players .Just look at a Portsmouth still paying PL wages to players who they can't sell because they were over hyped or not good enough. We have two players I have concerns about regarding wages Gomis and Ayew, Gomis is getting on and if we're lucky someone may come in and take him of us ,Ayew will move on with a big fee so maybe the pain won't be too bad , all the rest I believe are on decent money but still a considerable outgoing ,as I said it's all about balance and protecting the Club for the long and not the short term .
