I agree with this, my worry is that there is a chance this could happen, NA owes to every saints fan to start winning games quickly to prevent this from happening cause if twithy takes over i will still be a loyal saints fan i will just feel a bit cheapened and would never forgive NA for not preventing it.
i suppose the other question is that if NC did decide NA wasn't up to it what available manager has the experience or credentials to do better with the squad thats available.
That's the key question. I'm not convinced another manager could get more out of thois squad reserving judgement for now on the newbies. No-one can bring in re-inforcements until January so not sure what the point of any change would be.
Why the hell would any Saints fan be contemplating the sacking of the manager? OK you've lost your first 4 games, but three of the opponents have been Man Utd, Man City and Arsenal. Losing at home against Wigan, although a poor result, is hardly a sacking offence!
Dev i don't think many are seriously suggesting it would happen for real (at the moment) its just a topic thats been around for a while and is in the national newspapers so surely it should be discussed on here
I suspect we all know the answer to that - but in the spirit of friendship and to keep the mods happy, I won't say the word that pops in there
Reality is that loyalty counts for nothing at the top and I'm ceratin that if we are still in the bottom 3 at Chrsitmas Nigel will be looking nervously over his shoulder. That said I don't expect that to happen. The sesaon starts on saturday with a home win!
IMO i think that NA is the right man for the job and i don't see the point in changing him, my only concern is that is defensive tactics are not up to it and i think he could do with a hand in this area, a little bit like what Arsenal have done in promoting bould to number 2. I am so gonna get shot down for this and i'm not saying he's the right man for the job but some one with tony adams experience as a number 2 to a newly promoted club i think would be beneficial. i only said tony adams as he has the reputation other options are available and perfered.
You have to consider that Adkins may well be out of his depth at this level BUT is a leading manager in terms of of the lower divisions, am not saying this is the case, but there is this possibility. Southampton are a premier league club, everything there is set up for them to be as big as Sunderland, in terms of an established premier league club, but for that to happen they need a manager that is capable at this level. Hopefully Adkins is that man, yet if he doesn't get results then will saints stay loyal, and allow him time, or will they bring in an experienced manager that will keep them up.
Hopefully we don't have to answer the question but if the time comes I'm not sure there are many SUCCESSFUL top flight managers available.
HA I'll take the "digs" about Redknapp, as a firm NO (under any circumstances) to him arriving as your manager! Just to ask though, is it due to his time at Portsmouth, or the fact he was in charge when you was relegated? as from what I remember you played some good football, crouch was scoring for fun but he arrived too late to save you?
People are pissed off at him because he joined us, "sent us down" and then went straight back to Portsmouth, and people are too stupid to think it could be anything other than sabotage. He's a very good manager, provided Cortese can control his reckless spending he'd be a very good appointment. Some people are just far too emotional.
It's not just his time at Pompey. IMO he buys instant success by bringing in players on huge wages. I just don't like/trust him. Have to admit he seems very popular with players though.
Nah I just think he's a twat, never liked him. All the little success he has had has been with spending **** loads, imo he is only a decent manager. He is just over hyped because he is English and always in the media spotlight.
If for some horrible reason we didn't have Adkins, I'd take Redknapp. He's a great manager and a decent guy.
Would create a lot of lively discussion on here. Opinion seems pretty evenly split that he's a top bloke or an untrustworthy git. Can't see it ever happening whilst Cortese is in charge though.
Harry annoys the hell out of me. I would rather have him than Saints relegated, but would have to refuse to listen to him.
