Before Roker Park it was on Newcastle Road (North of the Wear) so it's where it's always been and therefore handy for me as I come from Shields!

Bollocks, I think. But a lot of questions were being asked because so many happened in training, which is daft. Big Sam Allardyce has his faults, but this sort of thing isn't one of them...

West End were on the brink of collapse, so there probably would still only be one team in Toon

Alfie - none of the loans are being made permanent apart from Elmohammedy. I'd love to see Welbeck and Onouha back though and I'd take O'Shea, but not Brown. And I never laughed at the Carroll sale because that is a shedload of money for new signings.

Simon - have you bough Zog, Taylor and Ba?

  6. Syds comment that we made newc a###hole look like barca is very true. I still say obese bruce should have been sacked at the end of that game and i stand by that.

Turns out it was Hendon then Ashbrooke before Newcastle road but I remember when the SOL was being developed a few people were saying it should have been moved south of the river. God knows why it would make any difference like.

No just speculating the players that we have a realistic chance of getting using the carroll money and would still have a lot of cash left over.

Good question but correct me if I'm wrong though did the clubs not merge due to West End going out of business?
I think if it had panned out as you said it would be similar to Liverpool/Everton and Liverpool/Man Utd, would probably dislike Sunderland more as the outsiders!

EDIT: Spiderman's mask beat me to it, should really read the thread more thoroughly!

thought so but the stories were flying about think mainly due to the fact you had a lot come back only to get injured straight away as if they were rushed back.wonder what it is with north east teams we always seem to have more injuries than most

Didn't mean personally mate. Think Wes Brown would be a decent signing, better than Titus. Not sure about Darren Gibson though, probably not seen enough of him but not done a lot to impress me.

Haven't seen much of Gibson either, but then he's in the Man U squad. Has a good shot on him, from what I hear.

Not sure how much the Man Utd fans rate him mind, didn't he have to remove his twitter within hours of getting it because he was getting so much stick? Or have I imagined that? But if Sir Alex sees something in him there must be something there.

They're spoilt for choice though. We, sadly, are not!

From what I read on the Man Utd board on 606, they thought he was ****. From what I've seen of him on TV, he's nowt special. He's still young though and could turn into a decent player in the right team.

West End played at St James, East End at Stanley Street.

West End go bust and into administration, drop down the leagues under a new name as a phoenix club.

East End (now called Byker) become the dominant force in the city whilst Newcastle flirted around the amateur league for a good number of years.

With Byker competing at the very top of the English league system and among the more successful clubs in the country, a local investor decided to kick start a small club with a lot of history, Newcastle FC.

Now called Newcastle Blue Star, the old West End club were to rise to become a respectable club in the league, even reaching the FA Cup Quarter Finals in 1963. Although largely in the shadows of local rivals Byker, the two clubs met on occasion in Division 2.

Now under the ownership of Mike Ashley, Byker FC have secured another season in the EPL and look set for a promising season ahead with a mid-table finish more than likely. Meanwhile, Newcastle Blue Star hope to gain promotion into the Championship ahead of rivals Hartlepool under the management of ex Man Utd striker and local boy Alan Shearer.
