I thoroughly enjoy my involvement in this forum, and whilst like most of us I am mostly here for the football, I do enjoy the music thread and have joined in some of the non football threads too. So I am now going to indulge another of my interests, old and iconic television programmes, themes and moments. This may be very short lived or may run like the music thread who knows! I will start the thread with this; for people my age surely one of the most iconic openings of any TV programme.
I nearly posted the show's final sequence, but decided not to in case I start blubbering like an infant as I usually do when I watch it...
And if you preferred the other side, there is a bit less variation in the music! unless we go midweek too
It is indeed iconic and brilliant. But I actually think the opening titles to Stingray are better (though Thunderbirds is a better series overall). "Anything can happen in the next half hour" is an amazing way to start a programme (that lasts half an hour) and the titles were exciting, it didn't matter they were puppets. Unfortunately the next half hour wasn't all that exciting and Marineville only seemed to have one option no matter the threat. Underwater city in peril... "launch Stingray", aliens have stolen the moon "launch Stingray". Plus if it wasn't for Stingray there wouldn't be the Phil Cool aquaphibian sketch, simply one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
Depending who was on I would make it home with a bag of chips after the pub to watch this , fighting off my brother and the dog wanting chips Parkinson was so good ,never bettered
