It was started by the Mac millan cancer support group / organisation.

A bit like the no make up day.

A very worthy cause as Mac Nurses are Brilliant

You asked for a simple solution, so I gave you one. You'd be surprised what this country pays for. Ever wondered why India can afford a space programme, yet the majority of the population live in squalid conditions? The same applies to Pakistan and Africa, but the latter is more about corruption rather than wasteful government spending. I agree that we're going off track though, let's focus on the original topic about raising awareness for ALS.

Whether it is attention seeking hipsters or celebs gagging for publicity it's helping raise awareness.

You do come out with some ****e.....

This govt. isn't interested in our poor. If you want to take your employer to an Industrial Tribunal, for wrongful dismissal ('cos of age or sex discrimination) it'd cost you £1,200. Great for the poor, eh?

You've got the 'bedroom tax' if you're in social accommodation which, if you want to keep family contact (via a 'spare' room) works against you.
You've got privatised/sold-off functions of the NHS, in order to give such excrescences as Capita/Atos/Serco profits (i.e. - taking money out of the system, for private/corporate gain).
You've got a Public School/Oxford PPE clique, who clearly have no idea of what it means to be poor; nor even what is implied by a working-class life. They live in a Westminster 'bubble' - all of them - and are basically there to enhance corporate profits.

Scientific research, as used by the 'ruling class' (for that, read administrators/facilitators of corporate greed) would be used to enhance the profits of drug companies/ defence and armaments companies/ power and water utilities/ etc.

Think on.....

So you're saying we should spend money on an institution like the EU and fund corrupt nations that treat their poor far worse than any Tory could? Get real.

My original point wasn't really political, one of the posters asked a question regarding charities and I gave a response.

It was only a suggestion, I'm not sure why you responded with a dramatic rant and jumping down my throat.

Bear in mind that a lot of celebrities are making good charitable donations as well as doing the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Triple H, Vince McMahon, Taylor Swift to name a few.

In fact, check this out
