Off Topic Ice Baths... any have one?

Thinking of treating myself to an ice bath for a big birthday, but jees the temperature controlled ones are bloody expensive... does anyone have one. Recommendations... I see a lot of YT videos of people that have made them out of freezer cabinets...

I attended a work camp on St Kilda a few years ago - it's right out in the Atlantic off the Hebrides - fantastic place - anyway, one day I thought it might be a good idea to swim in the bay and see what the mid Atlantic sea was like - my testicles have never forgiven me - bloody hurt - its easy to see and feel what cold does to your body - a cold shower is a luxury in comparison

Never an actual ice bath, but have tried a few cold water baths, some in winter when the incoming water might as well have been freezing.

Never did nowt for me. Think it’s just gimmicky.

Went down to Devon a few times in the last ten years and the sea was cold but manageable
Then went to Portugal in august 7-8 years ago and **** me it was the coldest sea I’ve been in
That first wave that hits your bollocks ! They were in my neck by the second wave
Didn’t even swim it was that cold

I’m like that with the heat, in my youth it didn’t bother me, remember walking in turkey with mates, 40degree heat, not a problem, the lads were melting. These days someone puts a light on and I’m saying “ open a ****ing window, it’s boiling in here… go figure!!!

Closest I've got to one is doing the New Year day dip at Withernsea. Did it for about 5 consecutive years. The worst thing about it was getting out the sea and standing on the sand bloody feet like blocks of ice. Best thing was your hangover disappears in seconds.
