It's true like, before we were linked with Defoe I think the general consensus on here was that he was a sewer rat because of his foul on Craig Gordon but now we're all happy seeing him bang the goals in for us. It'd be too awkward never being a hypocrite as a football fan haha, you can't be booing a player who's scoring for you nobody does that. I don't think we're hypocrites to the extent that we love him to bits though, I'd say we appreciate him more than we outright like the guy.
Talking of hypocrites, I love the Man U half-hearted rendition of the Jose Mourinho song, it is pathetic. They hated his guts for years
Football is a fickle game at times. What do you expect us to do boo him like he still manages Chelsea? It's funny you say that mind, I remember a lot of the Moyes comments on here from when he was at United.
Januzaj? Not hard working by any stretch in a battle (and I like him BTW - he's just not that stereotypical "Moyes" player you describe!)
I suppose there are exceptions, you can't have 11 plodders can you. I know Moyes places emphasis on a player's mentality as being of great importance and I just can't see Gyan fitting into that.
With such a small squad, you could do without players like Gyan in there, he'd spread negativity like a wild fire, he's proven himself to be interested in nothing but money enough times. The young kid you have is getting bare hype so Gyan could be a disastrous move where he's concerned. Januzaj with his head focused will score you more goals than Gyan would anyhow.
Agreed totally with everything - TBF - we've been linked with everyone who has played for (and managed) Sunderland within the last 10 years or has a link with David Moyes, and is available
It's all a load of rubbish and just wishful thinking from Gyans side. No way is he a Moyes type player and surely our scouts can come up with better options than this?! It's just wrong on so many levels...
Thing is though, there's no evidence to support that he ever created a negative atmosphere in the dressing room fella. He was full of charisma and seemed to get on well with people. You could see it when we scored, the rest of the players were very much with him, he always had a smile on his face as did the players he was pictured with. The circumstances of him leaving always seems to cloud what happy uplifting figure he was at the club(at a time when the other star striker was taking the piss). That's why the move came as shock. Gyan brought a real feel good factor to the club then wanted off suddenly. So I don't think wage mercenaries and dressing room disharmony are always necessarily an exclusive combo. One can exist without the other imo, though often there is a connection. Meanwhile... Bent ****ed the managers daughter and when Bruce banned her from mixing with players they carried on behind his back. Id say that was the negative factor at the club around that time. Way more to Bent's move than Cappelo recommending him move that's for sure. Gyan was greedy but Bent was pure poison.
The evidence you have is enough mate to make assumptions, it's not a courtroom where it needs to be documented, hard, objective facts. He jumped ship, AFTER, the window had closed to go and play in some Arab country for a huge amount of money. People with that attitude are generally not a positive influence on young kids aspiring to be great COMPETITIVE footballers. If one kid, such as Asoro, looks at Gyan's house, car, watch, shoes and starts thinking 'He's super cool, I wanna be like him' then Gyan becomes a cancer at the club, he doesn't have to whisper about money into young lads ears, to have a negative impact. If you want hard evidence to back up anything like that then you're probably never gonna get it, it doesn't make him a misery or a nasty person, it just makes him a bad role model, no matter how nice he is, the example he's set can't be undone.
I know it's not. Never said it was and not claiming or looking for hard evidence. Just offering a bit of balance in response to your post. All you've demonstrated is he's greedy but that's a given and well established. Not that he'd spread negativity, that's nothing more than a personal theory from you. I'm just saying is that it's not necessarily the case. Could be but not necessarily. I'm not saying you're wrong or demanding evidence. What he could do for moral on the training could trounce your theory into the ground, young strikers could develop their game off him and Defoe and become better players. It could all turn out rosey just as easily as it could turn sour. Not saying it would or wouldn't, more could or couldn't. like you say his career path could have a negative effect just balancing potential negatives with potential positives. Balance, It's what I do, it's why I can be called a happy clapper and doom monger in the same day.
So what you're suggesting is it could go either way and you'd be willing to take that risk? All I'm saying is after offloading the ****e what's weighed you down for however many seasons, along comes another money grabbing piss flap and the circus is back in town.
