What’s your thoughts? I like how Rashford is so passionate about the cause, but not sure it’ll get anywhere this time. Wondering if it can stay on topic without being another political slugfest but can’t see how, considering it involves politicians at it’s core. Should we have a go? I’m behind it, nobody should starve, let alone kids. Anybody know how much it costs to deliver?
Im ashamed for those who voted these ****s into power. I dont often feel angry with politicians because I expect them to all be ****s, all of the time, but sometimes even they out do themselves and it gets me. Imagine voting to not feed ****ing kids. Said it all my fukin life, them pigs in suits are not human. Blue Red Whatever.
I was thinking the title sounded catchy and would attract a wider audience. It’s not about Ian Beale though.
Its just pure fuking snobbery from people who've never been near the bread line. The thinking is that every kid who needs this comes from "lazy" parents. Which is simply not true, not by a long stretch.
I had free school meals when I was at school, but during school holidays, you were fed at home, regardless if your parents had any money or not. Also there wasn't food banks to my memory, if there was, I'd never heard of them. I think if kids are being locked down, then yes they should get free school meals still, I'm not sure what's occured outside of that. I assume decades on from when I was at school, Rashford believes (rightly), that no child should go hungry, so not sure why it would be voted down in Parliament. I suppose another option would be to give parents food vouchers, but ensure they can't be spent on anything other than food, ie no booze etc.
Same here, chips beanz and cheese eerrry day for 4 years lol Sounds **** but when you've been smoking in between lessons since 9 am that stuff is bliss come lunchtime
I believe they are vouchers and some clubs etc that feed kids. Clearly there’s millions of other problems to deal with as well, I’m not sure of the bigger picture. My mum grafted 3 jobs to keep us fed and clothed, can’t remember ever going hungry but it was a poverty diet to say the least. Less than that might have taken my life on another path completely.
I used to be on free meals loved it..school meals were ace...made a change from chappatti and dhaal at home sometimes I used to sell my dinner ticket so that I could go to the chippy with the rebels chip butty with bits 90p I loved them days
I often think about dropping a car full of food down the food bank but then I remember watching a program where a bloke went to those fruit machine places with his weekly hand out and popped by the food bank on his way home, when he was skint. I’ve got a mental block with empathy, so unless I see suffering first hand I can’t relate.
Suppose it depends on how much you value life as an individual - if you are starving and want to stay alive, you will do whatever you have to do to feed yourself and your kids. The only other option is starve. If my grandkid was starving and I had no money, I'd go and steal food, simple as. It's why when I saw supermarkets getting looted in some countries, during lockdown, that I said, the only way to stop the looting is for the supermarkets to set up free food parcels outside, afterall the big chains I suspect have made a lot of profit out of all of this.
I also see consumerism as an issue. Too many parents find themselves in bad financial shape because they’ve got a shed load of Xmas pressies on tick for their kids. The pressures of social media, “Look at how many presents we’ve stuffed into our living room”.
