To be expected.. what else are they meant to say? “We here to make a quick buck.. anyone from the Middle- East with a spare half a billion want to make a bid?”

What do we (the fans) want from FSG?
We want investment but complain about ticket prices?
We want to be self sufficient but want to compete with the Oligarchs and Oil Sheiks

Compared to our current position (financially) I think FSG have backed all their managers.
They could have pocketed the Torres money, but no, they gave Kenny and Comoli permission to go and find a replacement.
They backed Kenny in the Summer of 2011/12.
They gave Rodgers money in both Windows. (yeah, we missed out on Dempsey but that's turned out to be a blessing in disguise!)

We need to be realistic, FSG won't be able to compete with the likes of Chelsea and Man City (ManU and Arsenal/Spurs due to their CL involvement), however our corporate deals are getting bigger and better, a new improved stadium will help further. Until then its a case of steady as she goes.
We've got a good squad, with the addition of 3 quality first teamer's and the continued impact of the youth I see a bright future (no, we won't win the league next year!)
I like Rodgers as a manager, the football we play is some of the best in the league, yes he's naïve and made a few mistakes but which young manager hasn't? This year is too early to judge, end of next season, we can take stock of where we are, will he have learnt from his mistakes this year? All I want to see is good football and progress, if we do that, the results WILL come!

so 6D is excited they are here for the long term then? <laugh>

I think as many have said if we could see a 3 of Eriksen, Alonso, Dede/sakho this summer that owuld be unreal.

However I expect to see Williams, Eriksen, and someone no one has ever heard of.

Agreed, that actually made me feel good!

You are quite right though Jonnybaws, they have allowed us to buy each window - the whole Dempsey thing was bizarre but it shows that they have a vision/rule regarding older players and I admire that they wouldn't just roll over and pay what ever Fulham wanted. Let's be honest, it's a strange game sometimes and did anyone really see Spurs just snapping him up last second?? I couldn't believe it personally.

    agreed.

especially about rodgers lol... I give credit when it's due and dole it out when merited... he is a clown but a clown can learn too.

I agree with some of that but it is omitting some serious issues some of us had/have with FSG:

Fair enough they didn't "pocket" the Torres money. They didn't need to though did they. They bought the club at a very, very reasonable price let's not forget and almost instantly got another £50 million back so damn right there should have been some investment. The fact that they allowed it to be spent badly was down to their naivety so I can accept they were new to the club/sport and made a genuine mistake allowing that.

I can't answer for what we (the fans) want but what I want is a stable ship. I want a club that doesn't go through managers and staff I want my season ticket price to stop going up so I can still afford to go. Selfish? Yes it is....but as it's the club I've loved and supported since I was a kid, the club I live up the road from, the club that I've invested in (not just with money) my entire life....then yes I'd like to be able to still afford to go. Plus I'd like some of the gate receipts, sponsorship, corporate revenue, match day revenue, sponsorship money, enormous tv money etc etc reinvested back into the playing staff. If you think that's unreasonable then fair enough.

Financially they HAVE so far backed their respective managers in the transfer market whether wisely or not so after January I have no complaints. I'm not quite sure it deserves a slap on the back and glass of bubbly as that's exactly what they should be doing.

Yes of course we want to be self sufficient and increasing our revenue through sponsorship etc is great. It's something we fell behind on massively in recent times. The obvious flip side of that though is that sacking managers and staff is costly. Allowiing your manager to wipe millions off the value of a player by telling the world we don't want him is costly. It takes a lot of work behind the scenes getting sponsorship to make up those losses.

We have no new stadium or anything remotely near concrete plans, I'd have a lot more faith that "they're in it for the long term" if there was something other than hot air and waffle.

The Suarez affair.....terribly handled from start to finish. One almighty **** up that some won't just forgive and forget.

Still no link between them and us in terms of someone on the ground on this side of the Atlantic. It's all well and good Ayre being the link man whilst all is quiet on the western front but if the **** hits the fan he'll just be the next fall guy (while they skulk off into the shadows....again). The buck stopping with Ayre won't wash with some of us.

Jen Chang.....I have a whole lot less faith in FSG when they think a twat like that should be involved with a club like Liverpool.

Last summer....a ****ing mess from Kennys sacking at the start to not even having anyone bothered to pick up the phone to the manager at the finish. Piss up and brewery.

All in all this year has been much better off the field (after the summer farce). How much of that is down to FSG it's impossible to say. It's worth considering that it might just be down to having less **** to face. Have they learned anything from last year? The signs are they might have. I truly hope they have and go on to be the best owners we've ever had. As of yet though they've done at least as much wrong as they've done right.

I admit, I may have glossed over a few points but it was never my intention to go into a minute detail rant..

With regards your comments, couldn't agree more..

I too want stability, I don't want to hire and fire and start all over again on another 5 year project!

I too want more affordable ticket prices, but I also want to be able to compete for the next Suarez so there's gotta be a bit of give and take, right now I agree, it appears there's more take than give.

"Allowing your manager to wipe millions off the value of a player by telling the world we don't want him is costly. It takes a lot of work behind the scenes getting sponsorship to make up those losses." Aye, serious <doh> moment there by Brendan, hopefully this is one of many things he can learn from!

With regards to the Public Relations, I think the vast majority of us will agree with your there, in hind sight the t-shirts may have been a bit too much, Luis not shaking hands another balls up.(regardless of whether or not we feel Luis was hard done by the high and mighty FA!)
Jen Chang, less said about him the better!
Ian Arye is fronting FSG but I agree, someone from the FSG board on the other side of the pond being here more often wouldn't go a-miss

With regards to the way Kenny was sacked, I think they've realised that whilst it their eyes it was the right thing to do, maybe they've also realised it wasn't the right way of going about it.

All I ask for FSG and Rodgers is to learn from the faux-pas and make sure we don't do them again.

Just speaking for myself, but FSG and Rodgers are more Glass full than half empty, and good solid finish to the year, sensible purchases over the summer and better communication with the fans and the glass maybe topped up further.

Good stuff JB. Ultimately we all want the same. A club and a team that can compete at the top. At the moment we're miles off that and everyone at the club will have to knuckle down, stop making basic errors.

Aye Billy, off the field we're still miles behind, on the field I'm not so sure we're that far behind, 3 quality first teamer's certainly wouldn't go a-miss but what is need more than anything else is "Metal Fortitude", never give up/never say die attitude, all the best teams of the past and present have it, we lack it (more often than not).

look guys i think we are miles off too.

This is why i say stuff like if carragher is serious he should be put in the youth academy and sent round europe to really learn how to coach.

I think form top to bottom we have been a but of a boys club joke for many yearsup to the point hwhere rafa tried (and failed) to totally restrucutre the club. In fact IMO we have regressed since he tired.

Hodgson ruined the senior coaching staff and the academy set up has gotten weaker and weaker. Borrell is now in there but he was only a coach at barca and its a huge step up so can he really run things? this is just an exmaple.

Rafa put in doctors, half have gone... medical staff outnumbered coaching staff hugely when hodgson stepped in with his 70's semi pro style.

At board level we'e been a joke ever since moores took over... are we any better today with absentee landlords and one man running the show?

who's couting and buying... god knows.... again its a bit weak assed under rodgers... he clearly just bought swansea targets in the summer so one can only hope to god the January window indicates some change there.

but just who are we miles off? I have to aks this as I can judge us against 4th in the english prem or against european teams.

No we are not miles off spurs or arsneal cos they are not precisely great are they? Take bale out of spurs and while they have some real fine talent they don't have much up front, arsenal have been run into the ground by wenger compared with where the should be... but yes we are miles off even chelsea cos like is as not the ski's will win another pot this year under rafa.... maybe two.... city are distinctly average and look amateur hour but have the resource to spend and we are obviously miles off ut no matter what people say about how they do it with rubbish in the side.... the point is the whole prem is a million miles off certainly the top 3/4 sides in europe. So hope spring eternal. 4th is always a chance but we won't get close this year.

Very good point JB. What has impressed me this season and gives a certain amount of hope going forward is that the team has overcome certain mental obstacles that maybe in the past they haven't been able to get over. Yes we've had bad performances and yes in certain games we've looked lacking in confidence but at no point have these defeats led to a really bad run of form.

Very true, but if we get top 4 it can attract players to allow us to reach for long term success. Can't see either happening soon though.

i guess this is what Ba said for cheslea. would rather win the cups than finish 4th. I think he really meant i take 4th for granted as a nothing. we're not going to finish lower than 3rd but I want those medals.

This is also why i don't apologise for trying to hold to LFC standards not 4th is a prize like say everton <laugh>

I'd "like" 4th to be a given and not an achievement so that we can go for the cups.
