I remember him playing a blinder in a home win over Sunderland shortly after he joined us - sadly it was mostly downhill from there. He was a colourful character and it's very sad to hear of such an early death. RIP

It might have been New Year's Day, 1990 - I remember thinking it was a promising start to the new decade (never a great prophet!)
Yes, they really are talking about the same player, he was magnificent for Blackpool in the late 70's and early 80's. I never saw him playing for City and have been dismayed to hear all and sundry bad mouthing him over the years, he must have really gone downhill since leaving Bloomfield Rd if half the stories are true. Nevertheless it's a really sad day today, my condolences go out to his family and friends, RIP big feller, we've lost a real character.
He left us 2 years before my first ever Hull City experience, so I never saw him play and was barely aware of him, though I am aware of his legend.

As others have said he turned up in a not so prolific time in our history, but it can't have been easy trying to replace Norman.
Wasn't he England u21 keeper in his early days, and I also seem to think he scored a goal from one of his kicks, but maybe that's another distorted memory I have.

Sad news and condolences to his family.
He wasn't a legend at Hull City and he was probably one of the worst goal keepers we ever had.
Remember Dolan loaning about half a dozen different keepers one season who all played in front of Hesford, and when it looked like City might avoid relegation Dolan put him back between the sticks and we duly went down.
Had a blinder against Sunderland and he did save a penalty in front of the away supporters.
He was a makeshift in a very dodgy deal by Eddie Gray which saw him and Billy Whitehurst come from Sunderland and Tony Norman going the other way.
It worked for the first three or four games including a decent run in the FA Cup but we were eventually relegated.
Popular in the changing room apparently, big mate of Whitehurst and probably a smashing bloke but I think we had him at the back end of his career.
Still, very sad news.
Any ex-Hull City player has my respect.
Trouble was he was 28 and should have been in his prime for us. He literally couldnt get off the ground. Seem to remember a long hopeful cross just looping over him and he literally fell over backwards.

He was a poor keeper for us but he was still our keeper.
At times he made some great saves, but also prone to the odd error or ten.
He did indeed score but it was for Maidstone United after he had left us.
54 is no bloody age at all
Bloody hell, shocked. Remember chatting to him at some crappy away match (Exeter, Torquay) during the game!!!! Came across as decent fella, down to earth. Sad loss. RIP
I remember an away game at Barnsley when he came back in after the loan at the time (cant recall who) went back to his parent club. When he ran out at the start and came to take his place in the the goal in front of the City fans he couldnt look up at us as his return was greeted by a mixture of jeers and abuse.
Sad times.

The keeper we had when i started going...remember him playing a blinder and being surprised how agile he was for a big lad..took up goalkeeping shortly after myself...sad news RIP Iain
Brady wasnt that bad, he just had this incredible ability to get sent off. Worst first choice I saw was probably Scott Thompson.
