About time that we heard more about this guy, it went quiet for a few days and we had heard nowt about him.
He hasn't even played for Spain ffs why are we signing these unknown players they never turn out good.
If we thought like that we would have never had Xabi Alonso and Luis Garcia, who knew them before us.
Fair point fair point but with Aspas playing as a striker it's clear the expectation will be much higher. If he does well ill be eating my words though. Guess that means we can't sign Benteke now
Aspas seems more like a SS, winger than an out and out striker. It seems BR might want Sturridge there and he should really, it is his best role, let the other interchange behind him. EDIT: I understand your point fully btw!! We just don't have CL, we don't have that pull anymore, have to find the gems and hope we get players who suit the style and the league now to get back to CL and get back to looking at the mata's, silva's of the world.
They won't get £40m but that's reportedly what they're valuing him at. Not sure whether they would be able to hold and for it either, especially if Benteke wanted out; didn't he say he was using Villa as a stepping stone earlier in the season too?
Yeah 40m is a bit steep if he plays well next season that its understandable but I think he's worth 20-25m at the most. I read an article in the guardian and the journo wrote it on there so not sure what to believe. Seems Benteke has his heart set on Arsenal.
I think that is still steep. He's had one good (that's all it was) season and is worth about £15m tops IMO. Is he better than Sturridge (£12m)? Yeah, he said he wanted to play for Arsenal when he mentioned Villa as a stepping stone. It led to some saying he joined the wrong team
I know 25 m is steep but the transfer market today is messed up. Imagine how much Barca would have paid for Thierry Henry if he was in his prime now - way more than 24m. We bought Andy Carroll for 35m ffs. Anyway here is a bit of the article The Belgium international was quoted last week as saying that "Arsenal are the club I love," and suggesting that Villa were a stepping stone on his career path. Wenger said he was looking at him before he was at Villa.
