Bates stripped the club of everything that wasn't nailed down and mortgaged much of this seasons income against some executive boxes in a ground we don't own. Our new owners are not minted, but seem to have steadied the ship and we are improving. We spent £1mill on Murphy and up to now I don't know why. How far we can get with effort and the crop of in house youngsters I don't know, but I am happier than for any time in the last eight years. We cannot buy our way out of this league so we have to take it steady. Having said that is it better to travel than arrive. Whoever goes up are going to be whipping boys. Getting stuffed every week and having to win the also rans league just to stay up isn't fun listening to Cardiff, Sunderland and Norwich fans.
That's football for you. We have had it much worse than you (I think), but now we have a lot going for us. Not sure that we will be whipping boys (if we go up) this time around. You'll get over the Bates' era and get back, but patience is a virtue.
Reading the threads here a member of the Leeds massive joining in is not going to cause any additional problems. That swordster could start a fight in an empty room.
You don't see what he posts on other teams boards before you play them! The strangest board though is Charltons. Any dissenting view even from loyal fans gets them banned. Moderators, dictators more like.
I note that the new Fulham boss speaks highly of him. Strange after two strong games that he wasn't involved in the 6-0 loss at Hull. Taarabt can be a Premier League great, says Fulham boss Meulensteen reckons on-loan QPR playmaker has all the attributes to be a top player http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/taarabt-can-premier-league-great-6446201 please log in to view this image Meulensteen said: âThe one thing we know is that Adel can change games and I thought from the environment I have come from I can help him to become a more complete player. âHe has been sucked in over the years by getting the ball and wanting to show what he can do, and these are things Iâve been talking to him about. âHe needs to find that unpredictability of using that skill at the right time to do something individually. âI put him in a game situation the other day where he could only have two touches, and he never put a foot wrong. I stopped him running with the ball and wanted him to get his head up and pick a pass. âIf he puts that together he has the qualities to be a top player. How many players are there with the same technical quality? Heâs also strong and has got a change of pace. âWe have to make sure that he utilises his talents for the best purposes of the team. If I can make him tick week in, week out he will be a great player for us.â
Another manager telling us what we already know about Adel then...!!! The key word is right there at the begining of the last sentence...."IF"...good luck with that !!
Ahh! The 'Golden Fleece'. Many a manager has travelled the 'seven seas' of football to find the key that unlocks the treasure held within the 'Tarrabt'. None that have journeyed have succeeded, or kept their job!!! A poisoned chalice indeed is the Morrocan Treasure.
It was an under-strength City team as well. Five of the six goals were scored by players we had in the Championship, and we've signed an entire new team since then.
On the highlights Huddlestone looked awesome. How has he played for the rest of the season. £5m a bargain.
He's been top class. Exactly the kind of player you need in midfield, as the fulcrum of the team and the one to keep the play flowing. Livermore on loan hasn't been bad either. It's a shame AVB got sacked, as he seemed willing to sell whereas Tim Sherwood apparently rates him. If only we could add a Remy-esque forward, we'd shoot up the table. Anyone know if Fernandes would consider a swap-deal with Aaron McLean?
Apparently Wenger wants him, but I'd back Steve Bruce mano a mano. I wish we had Huddlestone, a genuine playmaker.
