My young 'un won a grand in a karaoke contest not long ago. She's been on XFactor and got to the final 40 in London a few years ago. She now sings in clubs and does weddings, etc. I watched her at a club at the weekend, she's a cracking singer but doesn't get it from me. The thing with the karoake contests is that the pubs held them to fill the bars with customers and all the decent singers in the area would find out where the competitions were being held and would descend upon the place to try to win the dosh.
