to say how absolutely made up I am by what i just heard on 5Live. Another late goal. So many times in the past seasons we have been the ones conceeding. Now we are the ones scoring them. Wow - well done Derek. And lets not sell NM.

How did he celebrate the goal ?

Listening to radio, it sounded a nervy stuttering performance and if we’d been against a better team than Millwall, we would probably have lost.

BUT all credit to the whole squad who kept going until the very end and even though we were probably lucky, this result evn more than Southampton, just could be the one which kick starts our season. COYR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was also wondering how Maynard celebrated the goal?

Just got back in, I agree with you Wize but just checked the stats on BBC it says 14 shots on target, I can't remember seeing any where near that number?
I even thought Clarkson scored from where I was in the Dolman and he celebrated like he did as well, so well confused when the announcer said Maynard.
But at the moment I will take these scrappy 1-0 until we are safe.

Indeed Wize. Shocking performance, but we finally see the other side of the coin by winning instead of playing well and losing by the odd goal. After 30 minutes I called for McInnes to change the formation as the issues were plain to see - being overrun in midfield and if it wasn't for Milwall's poor finishing we could have been well on our way to a defeat by halftime. Give him credit, he got the hairdryer out and for a while it seemed to work. It was only after 75 minutes and Pitman's sub (he tried way too hard, the poor lad) that we went back to a 4-5-1 and we scored in added time.

    Other thoughts...

My cousin tried to tell me it was because Millwall kept him quiet, but I disagree. What was up with Adomah? I don't expect a sparkling performance every game, but I've seen better body language from someone about to be put before a firing squad. Bolasie did a better impersonation of him when he came on.

Let this be the final nail in the coffin of Marv naysayers. As soon as he went off the 4-4-2 formation became suicidal.

Cisse and Nyatanga had shockers, but Pearson, Kilkenny, Skuse and, most of all, James played somewhat well. The incredible missed opportunity for Millwall in the final seconds summed up the game perfectly.

My first city game in 2 yrs and was like schoolboy stuff, appalling. They don't seem to understand the phrase 'pass and move'. Pass and stand there is more like it.

Grateful for the last minute winner though, so shouldn't complain!

Maynard did his usual celebration - ran towards the corner (Atyeo/Williams) and slid.
Performance was poor - result excellent - all about results at the moment - winning ugly is a good habit

I said yesterday that the result was much more important than the performance and Del has since said the same thing.

I thought the second half was frankly shocking but I was so grateful to NM for getting that goal. We now need to push on towards safety

Seems like we are incapable of playing attractive winning football because during my rare visits to Ashton Gate I have never seen a game that was thoroughly entertaining. All the games I have watched could be in the bag for the opposition by half-time but somehow we salvage a draw.

Sure we won last night in a manner that is generally reserved for the other team but I will grab the 3 points and move on.

Is that the future at BCFC or are we really looking for a reborn side that entertains us consistently? Let's hope DM has some positive ways of turning a consistently poor and mediocre squad in to something we all want to see.

Clearly the changes need to be rung and the mediocrity sent out the door to pastures new, and perhaps I can buy my ticket for the Derby County game safe in the knowledge that I will see entertainment worthy of the price of admission - and of course a resounding City win.

Happy New Year Derek and his flock.

Mike - as the saying goes, "Rome wan't built in a day"

This season mirrors last in as much as results are the ONLY thing that count at the moment. I hope you get your eentertaining game but for now, I will temporarily take points over performance

DM will sort it in time...
