If I'd predicted the national lottery results on Saturday nobody would hear the end of it.

Probably being a bit harsh on yourselves here, I thought for the best part of the game you gave us a good go. The two goals sucker punched you out of the game to begin with but where a lot of teams would roll over and give up, you got back into it. Welbeck should have finished it off for us with Harpers mistake but he's a joke, Hernandez would have put that away for certain. I think on the whole your work in midfield caused us problems and you exposed us down the right (your left) and showed Raphael's weaknesses in defence a lot. For what it's worth, I'd say the Cisse 'goal' crossed the line which would have changed the game for me if it was awarded. I also think RVP will be in trouble, but I don't want to see our players do that kind of thing on the pitch either so if he's got to take a ban to learn his lesson then so be it.

Good luck in your next game, with your proper back line in place you should do much better than that. We were lucky Simpson wasn't there to do his usual off the line clearances.

The end of it or the start of it? You wouldn't want to mix with us commoners and you'd leave the Country to avoid all the begging letters?

People really do go over or under the top on their player ratings.

Harper 3 ? He wasn't at fault for any of the goals and made some very decent saves. The dribble was suicidal and he was not his usual composed self but 3 ?

Everyone else needs a point or two added. We got beaten soundly by a very good side, but were quite competitive for stretches. A poor day at the office, but calm down

We went to 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 after about 20 mins.

Cabaye and Tiote sat and Cisse went to the left. We also stopped playing long balls as much at this point. As has been said, we then got a foothold in the game, sadly we were already 2-0 down against one of the best teams in the country.

Although 4-4-2 wasn't to blame for the goals, it was to blame for the huge amounts of pressure we were put under in the first 15 minutes, at one point not touching the ball for about 5 mins. Pardew needs to get ruthless and drop Ba or Cisse if we want to win games, but it's a risk, people will perceive it as negative and he if we get beaten while "one of our best players is on the bench" he'll get unbelievable amounts of flak.

We need to start games better, and this has been the case all season, on this occasion we didn't get away with it because we came up against a very good side. Also, for some reason Jonas seems to get a lot of stick, his work rate is great and he generally gets asked to play out of position, or move position far, far more than any other player, this alone makes him invaluable in our side, he played in 3 different roles yesterday, and is often deployed to help get the best out of other players (eg. Santon against Norwich) - he'd be sorely missed if he was left out.

I'm not convinced I have to say that 442 was the reason we were under the cosh. We just showed them way too much respect and it took us 20mins to get close and starting closing the space. Once we did we were fine. I'm not saying that the following happened, but we looked like a team who had been told just before we ran out to keep it tight for 20mins. We just sat in and waited for the inevitable.

Its taking us way too long to get fired up in games. It takes a goal or a bad challenge. We need to start quicker.

It feels like someone needs to point out to the team that the game starts when the referee blows his whistle, not when we concede the first goal :emoticon-0105-wink:

No I'd stay around and keep my life the same, however I'd build a castle, call it Newcastle and basically rub it in everyones faces where I live.

I'd set up a not606 football team and see how far we can go.
