Glen Johnson did quite well today, and Allafay too.

Disappointing result of course but I thought they looked ready for the season. More impressive than last year's opening day defeat.

Quite; that elbow was pretty impressive!

Also, I commented that on the first game last season the crowd were a little flat, not so this year. We made some lovely noise.

I just hope Hughes finds his best eleven quickly and lets them settle. Bojan is allegedly 2-3 weeks away and I still think we need to strengthen at the back and ideally a striker.

Yeh, he actually surprised me to be honest because whilst he's a tidy player he's hardly a Huth/Shawx clone.

He does not need to be like the trad. c/half because he sees what is going to happen before it does , and is ready to deal with it. He and Shallcross together should work well , if Shallcross can return that is ?
Muniesa seems to have some of the attributes of Neil Franklin.

KKB & Smithers

I presume that was Hughes's thinking, a footballing CB like Ferdinand = Marc a d stopper CB like Vidic = Shaw X

Just wondering what category theb mysterious Txeria (sp) fits in tp?

Well he certainly has, Begovic, Huth, N'zonzi pluys Ryan out for 3 months....at least

To be fair Huth didn't feature for us last season (which for me is a travesty) and Nzonzi said he wanted out prior to this season. But I think that the Shawcross injury should have been sorted in the close season as he seems to have been suffering at home with the kids

It does seem strange that with Shawx injury pending to let Huth go.
