disappointed, but lets be honest the vibes were that he was unsure at best whether we are a good enough club. i agree its not the right move for him as he can pick his club next year and earn huge money as he can go on a free transfer too. he's bullshitting when he talks about not wanting to leave his family or that its because he now has a son though, the least he could have done was to tell us the truth. anyway, £8m is alot of money that we can now spend elsewhere, every cloud has a silver lining.....
I'd be worried if I was his family that he has apparently spent 2 weeks considering whether he wanted to stay with them................ I assume he knew he was going to be a Dad when Blackpool accepted our offer?!? Anyway, **** that guy, who's next on the list?
Playing on that dirt track in Blackpool could unseat his ambitions. Blackpool had hoped to get £8mil, if Ince waits 'til January it could be half of that. I won't be surprised if Paul is sacked and his son is sold.
CP, it will be compensation but it will be low as ince would have only been there for 3 years, probably £1m at most. i'm sure we can find a more than equal replacement for £8m, and one that wants to play for cardiff city to boot. Callum McManaman? i suspect wigan would want £8m or more for him, no wonder other teams like swansea avoid siging english players like the plague....
I'd expect him to cost more than Ince too, but he must be on the list unless Wigan are pricing him out of all bar the top 3 or 4's reach.
There's surprise - he's not coming ..... because he's just found out his partner's been pregnant for the last nine months, and now he doesn't want to uproot his family. His girlfriend should definitely have told him a few months ago that the lump was not wind. But it's OK - he won't be going anywhere else, because he's a family man now. So, he'll still definitely be at Blackpool at the end of August. For all the sceptics who thought he was waiting for a better offer - how cynical of you. I'll bet some of you sceptics are even thinking he's just not had the better offer in the time frame he would have liked.
Dissappointed but not surprised after this past 2 week saga - come to think of it, not that dissappointed at all - we need players who want to be here. Looking on the bright side, at least Noone and Conway will be happy. Get some decent defensive options and a defensive midfielder with that 18 mill Ince and Wanyama would have cost, and give our current attacking midfield players a go. Bellamy, Noone, Kimbo, Gunnar, Mutch, and Conway feeding Fraizer, Nicky and Andreas could have some milage without Incey Wincey. EDIT: - I'm not suggesting all at the same time!! - we'd only have room left for Marshy and a sweeper..........
we now need to ensure we sign 2-3 wide players, bellamy apart they arent good enough, i dont see kim as a player who will be effective wide in the PL as he has no pace...... how he needs to stay in blackpool to be with his family and new born baby though is beyond me though. what a cocky little bullshitter, go and rot in the reserves of west ham or tottenham, scumbag....
The good news, with the falling through of Ince and Wanyama we have 18 million to spend it would seem, and that is more than the stated budget money. Doesn't matter who we get(within reason) it's how they play in the coming season, lets get some players in who have a 100% focus.
sparky's right. you want players that want to play for cardiff and not just for the money, the minute they make excuses not to make a decision is the time to say ok forget it and move on...If the club themselves are stalling then ok you can give a bit of time but when the club agrees a fee and the player attends an interview and then pisses about is not on and should promptly be dumped from any plans of the buying club......He was too expensive anyway and you could buy two players of the same standard if you look elsewhere...
That is the problem I'm afraid. Every agent will know we have that money and that we are prepared to pay high wages. They will now be circling like bees around a honey pot trying to offload their mediocre players looking for an easy move at an inflated price. This Ince debacle has been allowed to drag on for far too long and as a result many of the players we have been keeping an eye on have either probably already moved or are in advanced negotiations with other clubs. We have been nieve I'm afraid and have probably lost out on a number of signings.
I think the real worry here is, if we gave Ince that amount of time to consider we possibly have no other player being sought for that position? Surely if others were being viewed we wouldn't have given him so long, are we lagging behind in the race.
I remember us playing wolves back in 2004 and winning 3-2 away courtesy of Thorne and Kavanagh. The captain that day was Ince senior and remember his post match comments saying that they “shouldn't be losing to teams like Cardiff“. He didn't seem to show us much respect then. However, 8m to spend elsewhere and prove the doubters wrong!
Ince senior always had an over inflated opinion of himself (the governor) and maybe it's rubbed off on junior. Hopefully we will continue our business quietly and not let it be played out in the media.
