It doesn't matter if they were decided over the last three games, the first three games, the middle three games, the three games before Christmas, the three games after Christmas, the three games after New Year, the three games before Easter, the three games at the end of August, the three games at the start of February. Fact is it happened! Some of us predicted 17th, others like me - 19th. But you predicted 8th and you have to accept it and learn where you went wrong!
DT went for 8th at a time we were still busily picking-up the Dyers and Gabbidons of this world. What would he have predicted if he'd known of the later imports and change of management - who had to rely on Stoke to give us 17th?! Whilst I think most of us can anticipate the kind of area of the league we'll end up in (and to be fair most barring the rose tints correctly thought we'd struggle), the *** paper between all but the top six or so, means you'd need a crystal ball to predict a definite outcome.
I was waiting for that - and I wasn't disappointed. You see, there seems to be a load of people on this Board that when they get something wrong, they start to wriggle and squirm and pull out all sorts of excuses rather than just admitting it. Thankfully Oddball, you're not one of those (although you were wriggling a wee bit up until that post ) For what its worth, I HAVE learned a few things from you this past year Oddball. A couple of those would be: * I overestimated the quality of our PL opponents somewhat, prior to KO last year. The lower teams in the PL turned out to be very average indeed as you predicted. * The importance of momentum and team-spirit is more valuable than signing big-name players on big contracts. Good players will become better players when you give them a chance. Its summat you were banging on about all Summer last year and Swansea and Norwich proved as much. * I've also learned that you're out of your box!
