We need a top notch CF. Wood was a stopback signing. He'll be gone in 18 months or less. 5-8 more points and it over. Then in the summer we go for it. Push on for top 8+. This is a 3-5 year plan. Keep the faith. Our squad is thin but next season it won't be. ASM doesn't look fit but all of the players have ran themselves into the ground the past 2-3 months. They need a rest for sure.

I think Howe had a big say on the signing and I think wood will get games after Howe's replaced the likes of max Murphy Fraser and Almiron for plsyers that are of a much higher standard.

How on earth Wood is supposed to time runs with that lot messing around I don't know...

Wood won't get much time at all next season if the rumours in the last transfer window are to be even half believed. We are looking at one or two top notch strikers and we already have Wilson so at best he will be fourth choice and likely to play in Cups and/or injury crisis.

Genuinely, Andy Carroll would’ve done as well if not better for exactly £0. And we could have still thrown £25m at a high prospect South American or someone like Podence, Dembele (Lyon), Milik, etc. We were badly let down by Nickson.

I think wood was a Howe pick personally or at least he had a big say in it.

Nickson can be properly judged now though because now the people he gives lists to will get the players at the top or middle of his lists not the bottom.

Tbh I think carr got shafted in the end because people blamed him in the she way, but Charnley and Ashley were always the bigger issue.

Howe definitely approved. I get the point of it, and as everyone rightly says it we survive it’s worth the ridiculous fee. Mainly as we were staring down the barrel and even those who we successfully bid for didn’t want to come. Doesn’t mean he’s any good. And he’s been far worse than I thought possible. Maybe some of his work has offset the lack of goals he has cost us.

Ultimately I really hope I don’t see him much next season.

We might see him get the odd start but I have little doubt that nufc will be bringing in 4 or 5 next level players.
