your right piskie .. but a F1 driver will drive a fiesta much better then a joe public driver could ... he would (because of his quality) make a better fist of the fiesta then lesser drivers could .. but thats what we have at arsenal ... Fiesta drivers in a Formula 1 race who wenger tells us are ferraries and f1 quality .. its just not true. a f1 driver relies on the engine and the wheels, a team put that together under a mgt team ... every winner ive seen in f1 has thanked his team and mgt for putting it together .. are you actually suggesting here that wenger has no input into the engine he puts out on the pitch and somehow its someone elses fault? under wengers current tactics and policies if we were a f1 car we'd break down injured on the grid and watch the rest of the cars "pass us by" he's said he has money and he has said his players are on the verge of greatness ... he even said in Jan 2011 his squad of 2011 this was his "strongest" ever arsenal squad .... that kind of nonsense can not go unchallenged even if he has won one more trophy the george graham. when he won c98-05 its all hail wenger forget dein, forget the board .. its all wenger .... now he loses its ...blame the board bemoan the players get dein back.... well wenger picks the players, picks the next upcoming kid and has even picked squallaici as team captain ... rough with the smooth i think ... wengers mistakes are so hugh they do allow for the challenge should he be allowed to come out of reverse and go through the gears are should he be sold from scrap and allow someone else the chance. remember wenger was left behing better players then (if) he goes now for a new man to take on and do something .. a few buys and change to the 97 squad reapped great rewards ... a few buys here won't even lift the doom and gloom we have ... a massive engine and oil change is required and I simple don;t trust wenger based on his last 5 yrs and all his statements .. i've lost my trust of him, if the board still trust fine .. on he goes and i support the team etc .. but won't hide behind its not his fault because it is.
I disagree with this, Honda had one of the biggest budgets in Formula 1 but didn't win jack. BMW spent shedloads and so has Ferrari, they haven't won the constructors title for ages. Then you have Schumacher winning titles in the Benneton which definitely was NOT the best car on the grid, taking it to the might of Ferrari and Maclaren, Alonso won titles with Renault which, again wasn't the best car on the grid and most recently, Button winning the title with the Brawn. It is not always the biggest spenders that win titles as we ourselves have proved time and time again. That argument cuts no ice.
It seems the AST have been asking questions last night too and there has been a shift in what the fans think and what Le Grove had to say about the evening's proceedings was interesting, very interesting indeed
My God - that makes alarming reading - the blood of the club is oozing out in several places, but we cannot find a tournique.....
In the absence of transparency one will always find various postulations. While some of these may be the result of imaginative deduction since what else is one left with given a wall of silence but then some of them as happens in life, may well be closer to the truth than one imagines. Better to tell all and if not all then most. However from this board and management, we get nowt.
Whenever I watch Barca play its obvious that not only are they very good players but also they close down the opposition very quickly and work very hard off the ball. We simply do not do this, way too many lazy players especially in midfield.
Yes Topgun quite the point I was making yesterday. It is very clear that some of these teams have a sense of urgency coupled with a desire to win. something which is lacking in our team. Could it be to do with the fact and it is fact, that even our lesser players are paid highly? Too highly in fact so the desire or indeed hunger is not as apparent. We all know who is responsible for this. A failed strategy that has yielded nothing. If Man Utd pay O'Shea 1/10th of what they pay Rooney and he plays hard for them, it begs the question why the likes of certain players on our team are paid so much higher. I imagine it's not just the London waiting allowance that makes for the difference...
We are moving into an age of player power coupled with Football Club finances allowing 'Sky' high wages without having to deliver results on the field. Outlook not good especially with the megabucks owners either borrowing, putting clubs at great risk, or just feeding in zillions for the 'prestige'. Disillusioned? Hmmm its getting that way. PS - in the last few days a GP ( on about £100k pa) and a surgeon (on about £200k? pa) diagnosed and saved my daughter from a potentially crippling back problem - a compressed disk which had to be mostly cut out. Compare their value to us against the indifferent skills and attitude so many footballers show for multiples of the salaries. Footballers 'might' get an injury - or could be fined 2 weeks pay for transgressions. Doctors and surgeons risk peoples lives, and mobility daily with decisions they are called on to make. What a society that values people this way.
The money in football has gone out of control, from oligarchs and others coming in to obscene sums being paid for transfers with players demanding silly money and in some cases, being offered wild sums to move. However, we have a problem of our own making and that is the payment of unwarranted salaries to players who are developing their craft to the detriment of players who are worth near on those sums but who are not paid them because we have not managed our salaries policy poorly. It seems that is Arsene's doing.
Unfortunately this is the way of the world, actors, musicians and sports people earn money for entertaining us. Entertainment pays.
Screw the football - I hope your daughter is comfortable and makes a full and speedy recovery Victor.
Thanks WUM - seems a perfectly normal recovery likely over the next 6 weeks. ( would be great if 6 weeks was a Wenger prediction she'll be lifting things in a week !!! ) Able to stand and walk already.
