and who paid for the replacement bates statue out of his own pocket? Leon Crouch. the man is a LEGEND and we should all thank our lucky stars he is a saints fan. he also paid for the exclusivity to the paperwork when le tissier and his consortium tried to buy us (to the tune of £500,000, saving the club and paying all the wages for a few more weeks. he is a true fan and if i ever bump into him, im gonna shake his hand!! i wish he could be on the board of directors or something.....cortese get on it.
the one obvious piece of bulls**t for me has to be the line that Godders pulled up - "...normally vociferous supportersâ groups have fallen silent, wary that speaking out may cost them their ticket." I commented on the article about it morning but the post didn't get accepted.
Yep, I have the greatest respect for Leon Crouch's motive and actions. He never wanted to run the club but felt he had to to keep the wolves from the door. He played his part in keeping the club afloat and did the things that Jen has pointed out. I believe I may have seen him in the odd crowd photo standing just adrift from Cortese, so it is possibly true that he has been a guest a few times, in the recent era.
The thing which I absolutely loved was when someone put a Saints scarf on the statue after the last game of the season in the Championship. It just seemed so appropriate.
The article is in the Daily Mail. Maybe they got tired of telling us that "Lesbian Terrorist Asylum Seekers Ate My Baby" and wanted to try out some new lies.
