I wouldn't drop either yet until we've tried them in a 3 man central midfield with Diame in front of 3 centre backs, with Elmo and Robertson as wing backs.
This whinging is just a taste of what might be to come over the next few years. The minute we attain the Holy Grail of becoming "an established mid-table side", and the novelty of it all has worn off, the level of dissatisfaction, and the number of fans who think they know better than the coaching and management, will rise exponentially. I really can't ****ing wait.
We just need to keep on doing what we are doing when we are leading and stop over thinking tactics and try defending what we've got. ie subs
People where crying out for us to play 4 at the back and they want it change back to a three after 4 games? Although we haven't been great people are totally over reacting. We have a lot new players and we need a few games to settle down.
I assumed when SB signed Dawson that it was with the intention of playing him in the middle of a back 3/5. I think it suits more of our players and is easily adaptable to suit either the need to be more defensive or attacking without the need to change personnel or the formation to a great degree.
I think we should sacrifice an attacker or two from the starting 11 for an extra defender. McGregor Rosenior Chester McShane Dawson Davies Figeuroa Elmo Bruce Brady Jelavic
It's simply down to personel, Bruce obviously wants Dawson, Elmo and Robertson starting and if he's going to use those three, then five at the back makes more sense. I wouldn't be bothered with us going with four at the back, but for me that involves starting Rosie and Chester and Bruce doesn't seem to see it.
I agree. Square pegs etc. Pick the players to fit the system. Don't try and cram the best players into a team.
Oh I totally agree, if you look at some of my previous posts in past threads, you'll see I've mentioned that I would start with Rosy every game, I like him a lot and think he has a lot more to give than the bench. I was just "thinking outside the box" in terms of keeping someone like Chessy happy and lets face it, despite the occasional error, he is solid. I knew it would get opinions making that statement, so happy with the replies and that'll be a NO at RB.
I expected nothing from this game, but after 45 minutes thought we might have a chance of something. What is it with all these late goals? Lack of fitness?
Playing one of the best attacks in the Premier League and then chasing an equaliser. An bloody good performance today, in my view.
Agreed, but, point would have done wonders for morale. And we were in spitting distance of it. Lost ball slight defensive positioning error-gone.
That's why they are one of the best, if not best attack in the league. We played well, hopefully that will give them the confidence against the teams around us. Man City will have a lot easier matches during the season then they had today. Hopefully we'll build on our performance.
