I have just had a call from someone acting for the HMRC, apparently they have found i have made a fraudulent claim and i need to dial 1 to speak to an agent. If i dont i will be arrested immediately.
Well it has been nice to be with you all, i hope to be back some day.

I had that call last week mate. So, if we're two'd up in Durham, at least we'll be able to talk about the footy. <laugh>

I'm sitting by my phone waiting for the call

Just pay the nice person with the foreign accent a shed load of cash... also do not forget to give your banking details including passwords... they will find that helpful also.

Joking apart its it time the authorities whoever they are stopped this practice it's attempted robbery on a par with breaking and entry with Government backing.
I agree - it's time to close down HMRC <laugh>

On a serious note, I find that a loud whistle helps for this type of call or you can just hang up and block their number.
- but it's not as much fun <devil>

I had a phone call about an accident I supposedly had. I just played along and said how quick they were getting in touch and everything they wanted to hear - even said they had to cut me out of the car as the accident was that bad - they lapped it up! But I got too confident too quick - as soon as I said I was still in hospital they hung up!

Loads of these calls flying around at the moment. I’ve had a few over the last few weeks - mainly about my National Insurance number being used for fraudulent purposes. They all come from a mobile as well

I cant block calls on the house phone mate, its attempted fraud, the government should step in and stop it imo.

Problem is they can't because most of these calls are from abroad and use an auto dialer to make the call, which hides the real number and makes it nearly impossible to trace. All they can do us complain to the government of which ever country they most suspect the calls come from (India, Nigeria, Russia are the most common ones) to try and shut it down at their end.

If you get a call guardian put on your landline it stops them. It does, however, mean that genuine in coming calls can take a bit longer to get through.

I tell them to fùck off and say racist things .
I don't really give a shìt what they think or what snowflakes call me.

I done that once then hung up.

So the indian rang me back and said "you shut up and put phone down" then hung up on me <laugh>

Tbf I was just sat half listening half watching tv going aye, aye, sounds good that for a fair while as knew was a scam.
