I have found it irritating to post both here and on 606 in recent weeks - but am determined not to abandon 606 before it abandons us. I have not interest though going forward in holding conversations in two places - apart from the duplication that would cause it is not necessary. I suspect if ja606 had been there when people found not606 it would have won as it was more familiar - but as I said elsewhere it is now too late
No probs Salisbury... Lenny No doubt we will all settle into things in the months ahead. I do wonder though if these boards will become cliquey as people will only stumble upon them.... I have really enjoyed the banter we had on 606. One of my reasons for having an interest in what seemed potetnially to be a wider reaching board... plus as i have said the architecture/infrastructure of this board.
... and yet the people running this claim they are far ahead of both the old 606 and ja606 technology - perhaps they would anyway but it seems to me there are so many things you can do here that you could not on 606.
Yep if JA would have been built as soon as the death of the original became well known and launched months ago! we would have all gone there! To little ,much too late! Horse not only bolted , more died of old age!!!
Happy Weekend all! I really don't understand this ja606 stuff... The website is really clunky and ugly, they're followed the 606 design but not finished it off nicely. The font is awful, it offends my eyes reading it, why did they change it? The article list is badly presented too, and it's really really slow (I know it's going to improve but still, to attract lots of new members they're going to need a much better server), which will put off any influx of new members. Having the BBC 606 forum was nice but isn't it time to leave it in the past and remember it with fond memories, rather than use an awful copy?
Hi Toby How are ya mate? Your view of Ja is interesting ! By the way have joined that chess site you gave us ! under the same moniker!
Hello Norway how's it going? Just finished a hectic week, happy to be on weekend. Sorry for not being in touch for a game of chess, haven't had a second to myself, will do next week though, I'll create a thread one night for an invite maybe? I used my old gaming profile name, tobyiscool Not good news on the transfer front, but that's all covered on a different thread...
Hi Toby - good to see you back. I have registered for ht eChess site but been really busy this week so not looked at it - will give Norway a game soon hopefully
Yes - its funny but when 6060 announced their closure we would all have settled for an exact replica - but now that would seem much less interesting. They wont get many recruits from here
I agree with a lot of what you say about not606, yorkshire. I'm not keen on all the stats ( honest ) and photos on the left that have to accompany every post . I can't post tables here (but then you can't post them on ja606, either). I joined ja606 just in case this one croaks. It could happen overnight, at least with the Beeb we had notice, there's nothing to say that such a thing would necessarily happen here, should things not work out. All in all, I think this is probably the most reliable option, though. I do agree about the longevity of this community if it doesn't have the new blood following links as we had from the BBC site. The only hope is it becomes some sort of online football phenomenon and is known to all who want to post and read other fans' thoughts.
We have managed to bring most of the 606`ers and New blood has already joined us here SLB If you dont like the stuff on the left you can turn it off!! by going to the printable version! This has been covered earlier in the thread I think! Nice to see you back!
