Some people are young at heart..... 72-year-old pensioner is Britain's oldest goalkeeper He might look like an easy target but you’ll rarely get a goal past Colin Lee who, at 72, is Britain’s oldest player. .. .He has been playing since the age of six and, in the past 37 years, he has helped set up six teams. Mr Lee, from Northampton, still plays every week and recently won a Barclays Community Sports Award. He said: 'I've been told you have to be mad to be a goalie, so I guess I must be bordering on that as I've done it for so long. 'I like chucking myself around like a lunatic. I've had lots of bruises but amazingly I've never had any serious football injuries in nearly 70 years.' Mr Lee says he used to play in any position he could 'just to get a game', but started playing in goal in 1949 and never looked back. The pensioner usually plays at least 20 minutes every game, adding that he was 'creaking a bit' after playing a full 90 minutes recently. 'I still feel like a six-year-old boy at heart when I play, although my body tells me differently,' he says. 'I want to continue playing football for as long as I can. .
