Agree with almost everything here. Especially Howson. His display against Sunderland showed us he hasn't lost it, but that interview really makes me think his style is cramped and I agree that him further forward would be a good move. Hoolahan wasn't great yesterday. The Holt problem is one that's been discussed - lets at least give our new striker a chance! One small thing... I'd switch Snodgrass and Bennett round. Bennett has been on the left before and he was fairly ineffectual, but I think his pace and support for Garrido will be essential, plus hopefully his confidence will be sky high after yesterday. One thing to add - i thought Camp was decent. One cracking save, a couple of solid ones and nothing he could do for either goal. Obviously he is still a clear third choice, but I feel a little more comfortable with him now. Another good signing by Hughton, for all his other faults.
I was toying with which way around to put the wingers, and agree that Garrido could benefit from more support. My logic was that we seemed to stretch the Swansea defence further playing with 'traditional' rather than inverted wingers, and Bennett had one of his best games in a long while. I can see the sense in moving Snoddy back to his preferred side and having Bennett help defensively more though. You can certainly make a case either way. Pilks being available would be a further headache for Hughton, as it would seem harsh to drop Bennett on his last performance, particularly after letting other players out of form have extended runs in the side. I fear the whole thing is academic though and we'll see an unchanged line-up from this weekend. Yeah, I agree about Camp. Again, Hughton might not have Lambert's touch with substitutions, but his signings (bar perhaps Becchio) have been exceptional. If this had happened last season, we could have been going into the Arsenal game with Steer in goal and Remi Matthews on the bench!
I agree with the line-up, DH. Howson has finally had a run in the team and is looking sharper for it. He is more of an attcaking threat than Wes (who I think needs a rest), and he played a lot with Snods at Leeds. Difficult decision to drop Martin, but Whittaker could replace Garrido to give him a rest. As both Snods and Bennett (and Pilks) have played on both flanks, I'd like to see them switch around occasionally to confuse the defence. Snods and Martin crossed over against Everton to team up on that epic cross from the left to win the game against Everton. It might work again against other teams! KK seems to be improving the more he plays and could be crucial to the next six games.
