You wouldn't think so....what with the language barrier, but yes apparently its in England If we had them instead, our fire breathing Presbyterians would have saved many a dog from a horrible fate
Re Wellington being Irish, if someone is born in a stable, does that make him a horse? You can have the Lionheart. Most of the Navy weren't Irish, in fact the highest proportion of Irish in the British Armed forces was during the Peninsular Wars when they made up a quarter. The Romans conquered everything worth conquering as AR said. The Irish are yet to put forward a list of their military heroes and victories though...
That quote was wrongly attributed to wellington, although he didn't like being called an Irishman. Bit sad really, it was because of an intolerent British society that he felt he had to play it down.

Possibly the most famous general in American history was Irish. Stonewall jackson. As well as th founder of the Argentinian navy william brown. A man revered throughout that nation. Lets not forget the great irishman Roger Casement who whilst in the British navy was knighted for his work in Africa and South America in fighting for social justice and the abolition of slavery. Not that it matters much. Ireland is the nation responsible for lifting the entire continent out of the dark ages through education. Banging on about imperialist warmongers doesnt really do it for me, but whatever floats your boat..... Or sinks it.
Didn't the renaissance start in Italy? so how did Ireland lift the entire continent out of the dark ages? Are you going to say that Galileo was Irish? Or Leonardo O'Vinci?
The dark ages refer to the early middle ages. Not the later middle ages that lead into the renaissance....At least in academic circles. So you can be forgiven for your ignirance
Med Dog jnr... What are you trying to suggest? That a neutral country should not follow protocol? If you are suggesting that, then perhaps you would like to enlighten everyone as to what protocols Ireland did not follow during WW2?
if he hadn't wanted to sell his oil in €uro instead of dollars the yanks would've signed his condolence book when he died
