I had one where we catered for 40 daytime and 240 guests evening, only about 20 turned up for the evening, in the end they all pissed off to a night club and we didn't see them again until the Monday morning when the bride came in and demanded her money back as she considered it to be our fault that her wedding day was ruined, she then went to the local press and gave them a big story about how bad we were and why we had ruined her wedding. We sued both the paper and the bride for defamation as they failed to check their facts before printing and sued the bride and groom for loss of business as we would have had a considerable bar take with 240 guests in the evening, this was settled prior to court action in the end. I have also sued a hotel guest who posted a comment on TripAdvisor that named myself and other staff members and openly stated that we were thieves and had stolen both from the company and guests, due to the nature of her comments we knew who she was and had her contact details, TripAdvisor initially refused to remove the review until we threatened them with direct legal action as well, too many guests use TripAdvisor when they fail to get money out of a business or wrongly believe they have a case for complaint, I have often had the threat of give me money back or I will post a bad review, I will always deal with anyone who has a genuine problem but too many try it on and you do have to stand firm.
The problem with review sites is that they are a great idea in principle, but they are open to so much abuse. Whether it is small businesses full of 5 star reviews from friends and family or businesses full of 1 star reviews from competitors or clients who have tried it on and didn't get anywhere, you always have to take reviews with a pinch of salt which leaves everyone back at square one just relying on word of mouth.
I do like a bit of comic reviewing though. People with a bullshit gripe out of evil is not on but piss take reviews are great. I remember reading general chat on here and the lads on there were having a bit sport with a volatile italian restauranteur. It was great reading through his responses. I have read some stonking reviews. Someone I know runs a website writing reviews of restaurants. The funny ones are always the bad ones like "I believe I heard the chicken clucking as it arrived at the table" because the chicken wasn't cooked properly etc. There is a lot of unfounded or misleading stuff. I myself have found myself influenced by reviews. We were buying some furniture and decided to order some online. I was a bit wary of this but the stuff looked good. We backed out in the end of ordering too much because of the reviews. We chose different dining tables from elsewhere etc to mitigate the risk. We ordered some stuff and had no bother whatsoever and it was really good quality. Basically the opposite of the reviews! There wasn't just one bad review, there were hundreds, more bad than good. So either the reviews had made them up their game or it was OTT. Power of the keyboard eh.
I heard that Albert had a great idea to counteract all of these negative reviews. He's going to start an online Review Brothel.
Often do my hotel bookings through Booking. Com and love the reviews, mostly for a good laugh. Funniest ones were when I was looking for hotels in Brazil for World Cup in 2014. They were offering some of the short stay love hotels as overnights and there were reviews from people who had stayed there thinking they were normal hotels. The room was very nice but there were no blankets for the bed and only porn on the TV. Housekeeping kept waking us up to change the sheets every 2hrs The only thing available on the room service menu was champagne and condoms The haircurler wouldnt work properly - it was vibrating badly. We reported it to housekeeping and they just laughed at us.
Feminism is a cancer. Its the truth mate. I am so sick of this PC bullshit. I am sick of bending down to savagery. You are lucky in the north. Don't let it happen where you live. Parts of my city have long surrendered to barbarism. I'm going off on something else here but this age of constant being offending when I have to tolerate daily repulsion from a creeping idelogy is becoming tiresome.
