That is the 1976 Cup Final team plus sub Hugh Fisher.

I know LFF has said that is the 76 Cup Final team, but if you want some detail, here goes, from top to bottom, left to right...

    Puppetmaster - Lawrie
Puppets - Peter Rodrigues, Ian Turner, Mel Blyth
Jim Steele, Jim McCalliog, David Peach, Nick Holmes
Peter Osgood, Mick Channon, Paul Gilchrist
BL corner - Bobby Stokes, BR corner - Hugh Fisher

Poor old Hughie. Practically an ever present in the Saints team of old, yet he didn't get a single second on the pitch. Kicked every ball from the bench though. ;)

EDIT: The style looks like Ron Davies may have drawn it.

I think you were only allowed subs for injuries then. Hughie did get the all-important equalising goal in the last minute of the third round.

If I recall correctly, Fisher declared himself not 100% fit for the final, and thus Paul Gilchrist kept his place.

Hughie was a legend. There to kick people. Our modern day version is Deano.

When I was pissed of with Lowe I put all of my Saints memorabilia in a large box and sold the lot on eBay.

A really nice young lad bought the lot.

The very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov and I went out to dinner on the proceeds

Godders, are you pleased you did that? I'd be gutted. Many a time I have had pressure from Mrs FLT to ditch the boxes, but always I have refused. When I found this box again, it was a fabulous feeling.

There must be a part of you that regrets that action.

Very much regret it now none of my children or grandchildren are the least bit interested in the Saints so no one at home except the very lovely to share it with.

It did take up a lot of space as there were programmes going right back to the early 70s and at the time I was decluttering. When you get to my age you look around and you see all the stuff you have accumulated over a lifetime and which fills every cupboard. It was like a cleansing out of Askham and Lowe and I did feel much better afterwards. I have never bought any saints memorabilia since.
